No DIS to all concerned, good work, but a bike designed by a committee will never be cool !? It needs individuality and can only be leading edge if most folks don't get it - yet - they'll learn ;-)
For me, Les had more cred than all the designer-label-permutations-looking-for-approval that followed.
As Ricky Nelson said (in 1972) "you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself"

It looks like these jokes have got off to a flying start. To save you all a lot of horsing about I've rounded up a few .....
I just bought some burgers from Tesco....and they're off!
Reading the label on these burgers I've noticed that they contain very little fat, but quite a lot of Shergar.
A man was taken to A&E after eating a burger. The Hospital say he had galloping diarrhea, but is now in a stable condition.
Stories have flooded the press and Tesco are having a mare, to be Frankel. An Istalian spokesperson for the company said "I canter believe it and I think its been going on fulong time".
The Tesco PR department really need to take the reins here, people are starting to equestrian the way they're handling it. They say that they are holding back as they don't want to stirrup the situation and the Company should be able to ride it out.
Personally I prefer the My Lidl Pony burgers anyway.

I'm no expert, but this is what I'd do after the obvious visual checks........
Take out the wheels and give the front and rear ends a good tug to ensure that they are sound.
Tap the frame all over with your knuckle and listen, it should be quite tuneful. If it doesn't "ring" there may be cracks. I also recommend flicking it with the back of your finger-nails and as you move along a tube you will hear the tone change, but it should always ring nicely.
Get hold of each tube by the ends and try to twist it. If it's integrity has been compromised it should be obvious.
By now you should have had a good feel of the frame, but go over all the joints with your hands. In the car painting trade I learned that you can often feel defects better than you can see them.
I hope this is if some help. I tried your first link and got a 404, the 2nd one (the Eddy) looks a beauty, could be a money maker if you brought it back !?
I'm assuming that these foreign countries are not a receptacle for stolen bikes, so you won't have any problems when you bring it into the UK ?

***"the plan was to enjoy the work, then gift it on again"
Thank you. I've messed about with bikes and motorbikes all my life, and thought the pleasure was in turning a profit - or often kidding myself that I'd made a profit. The **truth **is that I just like making things as good as they can be.
I feel liberated.
You wanted to make a little girl happy, and so far you've had that effect on a middle-aged bloke; funny old world isn't it !?
Great project too, all the best.

Please ignore my previous thread relating to **LMNH **- THIS is the one to read !!!!
I'll bring a this frame along to LMNH if it finds a buyer before Sunday, they can collect it then.
Performance aero aluminium frame and forks - 58cm c/t x 57cm c/c with semi-integrated headset.
All threads good, some marks in paint and small dink in downtube, see detailed pic.
£40
The dink
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/DSCF6144.jpgCan also include the 27.2 seatpost, unbranded stem and Specialized o/s bars (incl used blue tape, but not in pics) for an extra £10
SRAM CERAMIC bottom bracket which has only done 50 road miles and so (other than fitting tool marks) is PERFECT. £50 (+P&P if required)

It's a great laugh at LMNH and I hope to see old, and make new, friends there again this time - please make the effort to come along.
All the best, Gren

These guys have the Park Tools PCS10 for £110, vs RRP £150
I've not used this supplier but have the stand and love it - heavy though !http://www.fawkes-cycles.co.uk/6541/products/park-tool-pcs10-home-mechanic-repair-stand.aspx
It''s worth considering that after 10yrs hard use, you'll probably get 90% of your "investment" back when you eBay it. Lesser makes devalue a lot more IMHO.
