Bit of chain wrangling and swapping out the small chainring from 28 tooth to 30 tooth means it's now about ready to ride. Still plenty to do - I need a long cage rear mech ideally so I can properly sort out the gearing so I can use all sprockets on all chainrings, but I'm OK with not using the lower sprockets in the small chainring (when would I need to do this in real life anyway?).
Rear wheel needs truing, front wheel bearings probably need a regrease/repack and I cocked up the bar tape, so will have to re-do that at some point. Also not hugely happy with the position of the shifters, but can't be arsed changing it for now - will just reposition the bars a bit, I reckon. But it's now rideable and what I am designating as the starting point of an ongoing work in progress. Plan is to upgrade practically everything and get the frame resprayed/re-chromed, try and find some Ciocc forks for less than stupid money and, first up, get some new 25mm tyres.

you wouldn't be able to watch a film otherwise and maps stays on, is there not an option in Strava settings?
Not that I could find. I think films/maps register as the phone being 'in use', whereas Strava does not. Anyway, I've installed Caffeine, so that should do the trick. It's annoying, though, and not really necessary. iPhones have it as a standard settings option. Can't be difficult to include.

The other annoying thing - which I think is an Android rather than a Pixel problem - is that you can't set the screen to never switch itself off. Half an hour of 'idle', then it's gone. Which is a pain when you're using it as a speedometer on Strava, for example. Anyone found a work around this, apart from remembering to do something with the screen every half an hour?

I'm pretty underwhelmed at my Pixel 6a experience so far, if I'm honest. Good camera and I kinda like that magic eraser thing, but the fingerprint recognition is cack, the screen does some weird shit when you unlock it (like it's a 70s TV warming up), the battery life is s0-so and the 'rapid' charging (once I'd bought a rapid charger because obviously you don't get one included with the phone) is about as rapid as my sprint. I'd say it's worth the money I got it for (£200 on offer at Curry's with an old phone trade-in), but had I paid full price I'd have been pissed off.
Any redeeming features other users have noticed?

I'm too old/nesh for a tarp. I need sewn-in groundsheet and zips at my time of life.
