Recently finished Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis, a satirical novel set in the Jazz Age which points a finger at the emptiness and hypocrisy underlying the American Dream. Really, really enjoyed it.
Currently about 150 pages into The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen and I love it so far.
With regards to Murakami, I gather it's considered somewhat lightweight in relation to some of his other work but I found South of the Border, West of the Sun very moving.

Just had a listen to Hark. Sounds very much like Taint to me, which is fine! They do the riffs in a blender thing really well.
Been listening to some predictable yet satisfying d-beaty mosh today in the form of Nails:

Also been revisiting some Hydra Head stuff this last week. Fuck the haters, there's loads of good riff on there.

I'm in 3 noise-rock/hc/woteva bands
Normal Man

http://vinegar-strokes.bandcamp.com/Carer
http://carer.bandcamp.com/album/first-demo-tracksI always enjoy doing band-related stuff but for some reason I've been epically slack with writing/practicing in the 2nd half of this year, I think I need to either shit or get off the pot in '13.

Don't know what it's like down your neck of the woods, but black ice abounds in Leeds! Roads and paths like wet glass. Thank fuck for Schwalbe Delta Cruiser 28s!!!
It was indeed fucking ridiculous in Leeds this morning. I'm positive that the 25c Vittoria Zaffiro I have on my rear wheel did not help.

Opinions please.
I've definitely underachieved in my life thus far and have a patchy work history, however I'm doing well in my current (fairly boring) job of around 2 years. I've thought about joining LinkedIn, but having read that it acts as a kind of online CV is it likely to just shine a light on the ramshackle attitude I've had towards my "career"?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. PM'd about cranks.
