I have some sympathy with podium. They're doing their best to get high quality fast racing going and raise standards with little to no support from EA. I'd imagine that being told they can't have races, days after British records were set there, is incredibly frustrating. Not everything in sport needs to be about inclusivity.

Very possibly. But another argument I've heard is that maybe racing lesseans that athletes are able to perform better when they do. I'd really hope that Laura Weightman isn't doping and that her run was the result of a substantial training block and a good race.
Did my first BGR recce this morning - two Nav errors one in the mist and the other taking slightly the wrong route off Blencathra. Will definitely need to do it again before the big day. Decent morning out with some good views until the cloud base at 650m.

Good post!
My concern with these grand round maps is that they don't give enough of the surrounding area to work out where you are if you get lost. I definitely won't recce the BGR with only the BGR map.
That therma rest reminds me that I need a new mat before the OMM in October. We've entered the A course, which will be a real test of our abilities and fitness.

And a race report: https://randomforestrunner.com/2020/07/a-new-pennine-way-record/
Long but insightful.

All the keen marathon runners I know are looking abroad at the moment: Athens, Limassol, San Sebastian, Helsinki.
I ran a 400m for the first time ever last night, 58s, my hamstrings are very tight today.
It looks like John Kelly is struggling a bit, although the north east weather today is cool and damp, which should help.

So a full running club now? Shame there's no racing and it sounds like autumn x country is doubtful as well.
Nice work @greenbank

This sounds amazing.
I reckon John Kelly has his 2021 challenges sorted - another grand round and another Pennine Way.
