Think about the time and money involved in making a bag like you just described...x strap, right shoulder, padded, strong, waterproof, zipped pockets etc, and then ask yourself whether you would be prepared to make that bag yourself for such a small profit?
yeah very true
take away the x strap and say £100
more realistic?? -

I've been rummaging through the depths of "general" and "classified". Ebay and amazon. and have come out with nothing.
I was wondering if someone on here could make me/does make reasonably priced messenger bags.
I'm looking for something £70>
I've found some alright medium ones - but they wouldn't fit my needsI want a X-Strap, right shoulder set up W/ padding
and then velcro closure and buckle closure
One large compartment and two zipped small compartments under the flap
sturdy and waterproof are key
Not sure about sizing 100% but i'm looking for something to carry a lot - a lot of the timeat the moment i'm using a tennis bag which is horrible. I tied the strap into a knot so it will sit further up my back, that kills all over my chest and shoulder areas. Slips when i'm on the drops. the side pockets are duck-taped together so small thing wont slip out. last time i had my A3 books in it while it was raining - i had to dry them out for a good hour and then re do most of my art work.
so i've had enough - i need another messenger bag (regret selling my manhatten portage haha)
if anyone can help me that, it would be greatly appreciated

thanks for the words man! and yeah i always try to avoid it - its not pleasant at all. In this case however i was in front of her and did everything right. if i had turned in a bit sharper she would of clipped my front wheel or rammed into the back/side of me. but yeah your right i might just wait my turn if there's no gaps in future

Richmond road by the big sainsburys in kingston - I was in the middle of two cars trying to get to the front, as i got there the lights then turned green, checked to see how far behind the car was from me, there was plenty and then i held out my left hand (so i could get back into the cycle lane) a women driver hits my arm and fucked up my straps on my left pedals, which nearly got tangled in her wheels - nearly toppled me over into the next lane of traffic skreaming past me. I was forced right in front of a 4x4, luckily i managed to stay up and get out the way quickly but if i had fell .... i don't want to know what could of happened.
the women bolted off in some beat up red nova or something along those lines - drivers stupid-ity astounds me, this is the second time i have checked, indicated and a driver rammed me - the first time was a few years ago the exact same thing happened again, the driver stopped to check if i was alright (which was nice) and THEN went off on one about how he's a london buss driver and would never do anything to endanger a cyclist and that it was 100% my fault....pisses me off to no end. both where in broad day light -

Thursday night - doing my commute to ealing from kingston
got followed by a guy on a singlespeed the entire journey - i was going to say hi but lights kept going green before i got a chance to think of something other than "nice bike" to say haha
(also i had no lights because mine got robbed earlier that day, thats what i get for leaving them on i suppose) -

North face are good, mine doesn't make me sweat like a kipper in a bag on the warmer wet days but keeps me properly dry. The holds roll away too but I prefer to just pull the drawstrings tight which keeps it out the way.
Get a berghaus
cheaper than a north face and does the same job
I've owned the same jacket for about 4 years now - i ride in it if its wet (so alot) and like wise when i'm off the bike
nice and comfy and matches pretty much anything i wear off the bike as well
a really good investment. -

my left shoulder isn't in the best of shape so after a while with a heavy load on it, it starts playing up
hmmm
wouldn't someone making one be cheaper? (thats what i thought anyway) because obviously with a branded bag they would have to worry about shipping, advertisement, paying a relatively large amount of workers etc.
but if someone was making one they would have to cover materials and then add a bit on top extra to make a profit and to cover there time....or am i just speculating haha
