i was wondering if it was like my ring alarm which will bypass sensors if a window is open when it's set so it doesn't trigger immediately.
but i guess cameras are different and even if it took a minute to boot up when power was supplied through the plug it would just see it as online.
interesting, I'll have to have a play when I get HA setup in the new place as I'd like a couple of cameras in the house but not keen on them being active when we're in.

now i have all of our walls stripped back as much as possible i'm planning on the following...
sand and sugar soap all walls
hit the walls that have chipped paint patches that would be too hard to remove from the whole wall with zinsser peel stop over all patches where the paint layer is broken to lock it down as much as possible
prime all the walls with zinsser 123+ because it's an old house which has had spots of mould under the existing wallpaper
lining paper (1400gsm) over all the walls because the walls are not flat and there's 100% gonna be cracks appearing at some point.
prime *
paint with desired paint for final finish.
any suggestions for a decent bulk primer for going over the lining paper, we have 6 rooms to do so are gonna need a decent amount so trying to find best balance between cost and finish.

weirdly I stuck it in my save for later basket on amazon yesterday so i can come back to it when my garden office is finished. looks quite interesting.
I work with two screens stacked (one ultrawide and one pen display) and much prefer it to side by side screens as it feels easier to slightly look up and down than turn head side to side.
i would like to use my pen display at more of an incline as a proper tablet type display though so i think the dualup might make a nice replacement for the ultrawide.

i was the 7th stop for nearly 5 hours yesterday. the van was just bouncing around the local area but not moving up the list.
I've also had it where I was the next stop for a few hours and then it went to "we have some more deliveries to make before we get to you" then "still arriving by 10pm" and it didn't come until the next day.
fingers crossed it's just gremlins in the delivery tracking system.

the lawn is shit (more rocks than mud) so plan is to resurface it sometime between now and next spring and I'll be putting in borders directly above in next couple of months.
i think having been hit in the face with so many hidden horrors that were just covered over and forgotten about (singular loft light running on old power shower circuit using existing wiring marked power shower on old fuseboard for e.g. ) I'm just keen to make the place as easy to maintain down the line for either us or the next owners.

I was using a mini mattock so i could only get down to 45cm as that was as low as i could swing it but i have a full size one coming today so i'm digging it down to 60cm when the weather stops being shit again so the trench will be open for a bit
I also have 5m of this coming to cover the cable in the trench before I fill it in.
https://www.superlecdirect.com/cable-accessories/hazard-warnings/4012-centriforce-stokbord-cable-protection-tile-cw-pegs/but I just want something that will be immediately visible above ground to indicate where it is and not fade or get easily damaged.
probably easier to have them engraved on etsy or something I guess

anyone know where I can get these kind of warning plaques in the uk. only site I can find is in Aus.
we've ran power to my summer house and I'd like to put plaques indicating either end of the run under the lawn and warning plaques along the top of where it runs under the decking just so we never have any issues in later years or if work is done when I'm not around.

mooching around just-eat while procrastinating about just-cooking some dinner when I came across this gem.
even if it has three 1/4lb burgers in it £15 for the burger alone is plenty wtf but then they want more than £6 for chips and a drink. further investigation shows this is the norm for their meal upgrade across the board.
wtf is going on at wimpy.

it's worth looking through the game libraries on the sony website for the different ps plus tiers and seeing how many age-appropriate games there actually are.
I gave my little cousins my old ps4 and was going to buy them a year of extra or premium so they'd have lots of games to play but the library skews quite heavily to the more adult games in terms of violence etc.

Was doing some investigation into what our master socket situation is at our new place as the socket where the cable comes in is not a master socket but the one in our extension is despite clearing running off an extension lead around the side of the house.
opened the first socket up and was greeted with the horror show in the attached image.
now in the chicken/egg situation of needing openreach to come fix it so we can avoid potential downtime when we swap from the old place but they wont do anything until we have an active line and i have to go through isp who dont own the line until they move the service over.
thankfully isp guy reckons the line was in use before old owners moved out so the shitty extension master socket will work until we get it fixed. but also will probably be slapped with £200 openreach charge for having fucked around with the service boundaries.
would also like the master socket moved under the stairs which is easy to come in through front wall under floorboards of that room and up into stair cupboard but timing of all this will be after we've had new carpet installed and the room is decorated.
