I've never understood why UK was in the EU in the first place. You are not part of the Schengen area and you do not use the euro. Those are the only two things that have actually been useful to layman like me. Great thing is that from now on I don't have to deal with archaic management practices dealt by lords managing companies from UK. If we are lucky companies actually start moving their european headquarters from London as UK will no longer be the gateway to Europe for multinationals.

I just got my first pm (p2max) and on a second ride rode 50km 4kph faster than my typical speeds. I'm amazed how big of a difference it makes to ride downhills in 200 Watts instead of just cruizing. The problem is I need to get bigger rings now.

The quote was with headset and shipping to Europe, but still the price is set too high. There is a big chance you will be hit with a 48,5% dumping levy and xx% import taxes so the frame would end up costing $1500 and for that kind of money I will just buy a Giant Propel.

I asked for a price for the HF-FM169/R8 and was quoted ~1000$. Not that cheap. I guess Hong-Fu is trying to move up the ladder with their own Avenger brand.

Pity there is only the BB86 bottom bracket alternative for the gravel frame. It would make for a pretty sweat cx bike.

Looks are a question of preference, but now that you say it the BB area does seem pretty flimsy. Although I doubt I could shell out enough wattage for it to actually have any effect.

The anti-dumping levy of 48,5% is still in place so they would have to price it accordingly.

Not sure what you are looking for, but this looks pretty good. It has received fair reviews although the bottom bracket is awfully low for a track bike

I think times are changing. Some of the new bikes look pretty good and I've seen some pretty rad fat bike conversions. I'm tempted to convert my old DH bike to an electric bike myself. The DH oriented trail centers are so far away and pushing the 20kg sled up the local hills is just too much work.

I have been reading the The Secret Race about Tyler Hamilton. I got it as a birthday present and I wasn't expecting much. The whole doping subject seemed overdone, but I have found the book well worth the read.

Heh, having done plenty of bouldering, skating and snowboarding I don't mind taking physical risks. The risk of wasting money and resources just irks me to no end. If the pants don't fit whatcha gonna do?

Just got my first pair of Gustin's in the mail. They fit like a glove and material feels great, but putting them on for the first time was nerve racking.

I have a disc wheel from USSR for sale. Not kevlar (fiberglass?) and not for track (freewheel threads), but I will put it out there just in case if somebody is interested.

Just finisher The Rider By Krabbe. Kind of interesting as I'm considering starting to train for racing. Now started "Slaying the badger" about Hinault vs. Lemond duel. I find it silly that I have plenty of good climbing books, but there are not that many good books on cycling.

@peter_v The signage was bit confusing at times. I think I almost turned on the 70km route when I just blindly followed some geezer calling it quits. Luckily the locals know how to create enough rawkus to grab your attention.

I thought I had been the only one stupid enough to forget their wine bottle in the backpack. Fortunately I will be enjoying mine tomorrow. I was pretty lucky the airport official had a soft spot for cycling.

Anyways was the 205k course shortened this year? At some point there was a rerouting.

I managed to ride the 135km. I was knackered by the time I got to finish line, but it sure would have been nice to get on that 200k podium. Anyways it was struggle all the way from the start. First I cut myself in the dark and my finger was bleeding. The bike had worked fine the day before, but in the morning I realized I had problem with autoshifting. There was no way to fix it so I just screwed the rear derailleur half way. I guess the 28t would have been too easy anyway :) Once I got it fixed by the friendly mechanic in the soup depot I started to feel confident I could actually finish the event. The etruscan gods had another surprise stored for me. On the next downhill I managed to blow both tires at once.
