I've converted to more of a mid\forefoot running style a few months ago and haven't looked back. Yes, it takes a while to train new muscles and tendons to strengthen up but it certainly reduces impacts and I don't feel sore and achey the following day anymore. I haven't gone fully minimalist and I run in Brooks Green Silence which still have a bit of cushioning but are much lighter and more flexible, allowing me to feel the pavement or trail better. When I now try running with a heel strike, it feels awful, really clompy and heavy. Ease in slowly, over weeks and weeks, building running up from 100 yds very gradually...

Dear WW, I was a bit worried in the first few days that my legs would sooner or later refuse to operate! In training I did a back to back 60 miler and 90 milers (to simulate cycling on less than fresh legs) I never did any more than 2 days in a row. By the end of the lejog, my legs were actually starting to feel better, helped I'm sure by the fact that my last 2 days were shorter. I agree with edscoble that it is as much of a mental thing as physical. Skive, pleasure, hope they help!

I live in Aylesbury but can't wait to leave! Last time I saw a fellow ss was a couple of years ago between Beaconsfield and Holtspur (Bianchi Pista)
Most of the roadies round here have hugely expensive bikes and generally just saunter down to the cafe by Marsworth Reservoir and back.
Oh yes, I'm also married to an ex Wycombe High girl now!
On a baby blue Pompino... -
Agree. I notice a new chip every time I give mine the once over. Just clean it and dab on a spot of clear nail varnish.
I have a medium baby blue frame build up with a carbon fork (dot bike) Miche Advanced chainset, Miche hubs on Open Pro rims, Charge saddle etc. Cost me about £800 all in but I love it, fast and light (8 kilos)
I have an etrex hcx with a topo map sd card in it. I have recently loaded some of my euro navigator cd rom onto it instead of putting the other sd card in it that had the rest of the euro navigator data on it. It now appears that adding this data had wiped the topo information (all the paths, woods etc) is this possible? Has it just been overwritten and put me £60 out of pocket!? Ahh!!
