Do those BNIB cleats have cleat nuts with them? (As in, the bit that goes in the shoe for them screw into?)

Hi, I'm after a pair of 'nuts'/'plates' for SPD cleats. I've tried the LBS, but they just gave me a blank stare.

My shoes are Adidas MTB ones, but I think it's a standard shape so should fit?

I've asked in a couple of LBS to blank looks, so it's looking more and more likely that I'll have to fork out for a set. If you happen to have any lying around, any chance I could have them off you for a couple of quid?

Any one got any tips of cheap, good canti brakes to go with STIs? I stuck some Acera X ones on but even though they pull, they don't seem to have any stopping power no matter how I adjust them. The pads seem fine, so I think it might be that they're just not compatible, I've heard about this somewhere but don't quite get it.
Is it something to do with pull distance? Or is it a force thing?
