Mini project which I'm quite chuffed with...
We had two white coathook racks of the cheapest standard as a stand in until we decorated (which ended up about a decade but that's a different story)

They wouldn't match the new room at all but it felt a bit throwaway to, well, throw them away.
One tin of spray paint, a bit of leftover paint from the walls and a lot of sanding later..

Newcastle is far closer to Scotland than the home counties. I don't think there's a hard linguistic border at Berwick.
Half the time we were Scotland. We stole lots of bits from Scotland. But then again they stole lots of bits back from us.
I was quite a way past childhood before I twigged the word I'd always heard as "ben" (as in "give the bens their tea") and the word "bairn" in written Scottish were the same word.

I've got the low roller plus the split roller. They are designed to work together like this and the combo is amazingly well balanced - it actually feels lighter and easier to manoeuvre with the two together than just the low roller, I guess because the bag lifts the handle up rather than your arm, and because it's rolling from the middle not the end.

The other option, which I did for a long time, is a backpack board bag. Definitely one to use with another bag not by itself, but has advantages if you need to get to and from airports on public transport which being in London, I do. That style seems hard to find now, I guess cos the snowboarder demographic these days skews towards middle aged dads who drive big cars.

Cheers guys. I've shown him some of the suggestions but he isnt enthusiastic. It's hard, I think he's scared to try anything that might help in case he fails and feels even worse.
I found that mouse from the US site for sale in the UK. The critical search term was "switch adapted". It is literally a normal mouse with external buttons on wires so it's familiar. He seemed ok with the idea so I've ordered it for him...fingers crossed.

(Still quite fancy a stream deck for myself mind!)

Thanks JB. I'll keep my eye out for it, but he needs something in the short term as well.
I found a mouse that you can extend with plug in buttons for sale on a US site - goign to see if I can get it in the UK.
I think I'll get the Stream Deck anyway and see what we can do with it. Even if it doesn't solve the mouse requirement I could set some keys up to Zoom or Skype family members directly, open an email to people he contacts a lot, that sort of thing. (Actually if he can handle Alt+key, maybe I can do a lot with Autohotkey)

My dad has a progressive disease and is struggling with using a mouse. Eventually he may need eye or tongue controls but I don't think he's emotionally ready for that yet. For now he'd just like an easier way to press his mouse buttons (and not press them when he doesn't intend to).
Ideal would be something like a mouse with no buttons (or disabled buttons) with a separate button pad.
I was wondering about the Elgato Stream Deck so I can add more functions to the buttons as he becomes less able. Someone also suggested the Microsoft Adaptable Controller for the xbox but I'm not sure if it works as a mouse outside a game.
Anyone used either of these? I'm leaning to the Stream Deck because even if I have to replace the mouse entirely the buttons will probably still be useful for him.

I want to sell them but it's difficult to get money for them without them being seen. Might have to put on my big boy trousers and go into a gallery and see if they will sell it for me.
Are you creating the base drawings as well, or are you gilding on top of found images? I'm wondering whether there'd be a commission market for these, taking a customer's base image and embellishing it.

He doesn't even come close
I hadn't seen the Dudley Moore one before...that's fantastic!
Got to give the Rutles a shout.
"In 1970, soon after the release of eponymous album and their arrest following the rooftop concert, there was nothing left to save the group and the band fell apart amid much legal wrangling: In December 1970 Dirk sued Stig and Nasty; Barry sued Dirk; Nasty sued Stig and Barry; and Stig sued himself accidentally"

I'll openly admit this is back of a fag packet and Google, but looks to me like the 2021 injection of money was about 16% of the Uk's welfare budget, for a population 8% of the UK's, so not trivial.
Obviously this isn't apples to apples because as I myself have been pointing out, very different countries, and as you say it's not directly driving wage levels, but IMO it does feed into a sense of security that allows for a more egalitarian outlook.
My personal belief is that people become grabby when they feel unsafe. Expecting people to vote for higher taxes now on the payoff they'll see better services/social care/pensions eventually isn't going to work. The UK needs to put the framework in place first, so people feel safe to contribute. Norway has used their oil revenue to build that sense of safety. God knows how the UK can do it starting from where we are now.
Also me. Up to about 19k unread emails now I think.
