I think someone in this thread hired a dehumidifier - where from and would they recommend? Or any other suggestions? I've come to help my dad after a flood and it would be useful to dry things out properly. He was away over the cold snap and came back (last night) to an inch of water in the back room and utility. Wet vac has been put to work this evening.

We got rid of about that many to a second-hand record shop. They didnt give much for them (a few hundred maybe?) but came and collected. They just glanced over the titles and checked a few at random but there must have been some empty cases etc as I've found a few orphaned CDs since.
I'm going to have some more to get rid of soon. My plan is to photograph and see if anyone here or locally wants any, and take the rest to a second hand shop in Bromley, if they want them.

It's in my garden but figured this is the better thread to ask about growing veg. I have perennial cauliflower and some sprouting broccoli that were doing ok before but have been badly damaged in the snow - some leaves were frozen and gone soggy and some 'branches' broken under the weight.
Should damaged stuff be cut off?
How do people protect things from snow if it comes again - or just leave them to it? -

People who work with metal - what's the thickest diameter brass rod I can easily bend at home with no specialist tools? 3 or 4mm?
It's to make 'bookends' fixed into a shelf but only holding CDs upright so not much weight - I was thinking to make a 3-sided rectangle but actually a U-shape would also work fine and easier to bend - drill a couple of holes down into the shelf, glue the ends in. Like a croquet hoop or giant staple. -
Ah good shout thanks.
A few places to call round in the morning.
