If that tool is merely a 5 sides allen key, isnt it a bit tiny to have enough leverage to tighten the bolt?
I understand that all security skewers can be opened, but would this be as good as more expensive pinhead/pitlock?
No,
maybe pop along to you LBS and have a look at the range of security skewers, so you can understand how they work and which ones are better or worse. -
I might go to Oz and get one of those at a vastly reduced price from the shop I formed a relationship with all those years ago..
I'm only half joking. It's seriously crossed my mind to get a Cervelo TT bike off 'em for short distance races.
I'm the same, I've made some solid friends over the years at a couple of LBS's over the years and they still ship stuff abroad to me with better discounts than any online shop by a mile....thanks Cycle Smithy, Ben's Cycle and Bike Zone, my fav LBS's

^ There is an easy way to get them open quickly, I used 2 tools and it takes about 20 secs tops. I'm only ever in a building for a short time so I've been pretty lucky (only had one bike stolen while working) with only one lock, the krypto skewers, and dropping solder into a few bolts, stem/seatpost etc....

^ I agree,
for a cheap pair of wheels you don't really care about they work as a slight deterrent but are easy to open. Some cities like Berlin they are really popular so loads of folks have the 5 sided allen key so it makes them useless. I've personally found you have to spend a fair bit more cash to get some more secure skewers, I've got on with those pitlock ones for a couple of years and the Kryptonite skewers for about 10, out of the 2 I'd recommend the Pitlock ones as they are easier to tighten and undo. -

Its a shame that to be classed as a "rare custom" cruiser in the UK all you have to do is buy an "off the shelf" overpriced Felt, throw some money at it and then you can call yourself a cruiser aficionado. This muppet seadragon has done this on numerous occasions with Felts and Schwinn, then posts pics of his so called amazing rare bikes all over the net waiting for adoration and props. Then attempts to flog them for extortionate prices.
Personally it just proves to me that money cannot buy style without some modicum of knowledge on what your doing.
Sorry for the rant but I really like my cruiser (and mine really is rare, custom and worth a lot more than any of his mass produced crap rides) -
I am a twat

If you can't sell this overpriced shite on ebay, pistonheads and retrobike what makes you think you will get it here? Did you not learn anything from your last attempted overpriced cruiser sale? In reality you will never get even close to your money back on any of your overpriced crappy cruisers or hipster taxe'd parts. Take your shit and fuck off back to Toys R Us, you are an embarrassment to the UK cruiser community.

i logged an ad before and got slated as well by guys like Buckaroo who assume the worst of people,
I would rather have a B73 or a Flyer Special S as I have just customised my Felt Little Bast*rd Single Speed Beach Cruiser and the Team Pro just looks a bit skinnyHello seadragon, are you the fellow who had the shelby cruiser for sale?

These guys http://www.benscycle.net/ helped me out with a pair of conti 650 tubs, they are pretty helpful and you can make a deal with them (I just told 'em what I could afford). I know they had loads of 650 velocity rims for around £5 some drilled some not last autumn... e.g.

I've got a spare 21.1 stem ,I drilled and filed it, currently polishing it. It looks good with a set of randonneur or moustache bars but looks like crap with drops...
heres a crappy pic

if interested get in touchedit...You might want search for 21.1 BMX stems there are some cool and cheap ones out there for a more modern "trick" bike look e.g. http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/33788/DiamondBack_Quill_Stem
or look for stems for Schwinn Cruisers, I'm pretty sure they were all 21.1mm back in the day.
Kalloy also make one in black that looks more "normal" but they only came in a 15 or 20 degree rise if I remember correctly
Just found this one that looks pretty interesting but for bmx sized bars http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YO-Unique-Super-Chunky-Schwinn-YO-Old-School-21-1-BMX-Handlebar-Stem-/300667689479?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item460130da07 -

go to Bike Zone in town, ask for Steve, (best mechanic in Oxfordshire and great fellow to have a chat with).
