I didn't need the PaperWhite, but we swapped out our older Kindle 4s for them a couple of years ago - they went on to our parents who hadn't really considered getting an e-reader before but both appreciate the convenience of shelves of books in something that small.
They're lovely bits of kit, and making them waterproof makes them almost perfect holiday gadgets. Not as nice as the top of the range Oasis, but £229 for an e-reader seems a step too far...
Note: Just looked and the price is back up to £109.99 for the coloured versions and £119.99 for the black...gah!

Also used Ideal Loft Ladders for 3 Section Loft Ladder, Plastic insulated and draft proof trap door to replace original, Tube light, Loft Zone flooring (30sq. m) plus 10sq. m of 100m loft insulation to top up the middle bit that had compressed over time in the twelve years it had been up there.
Total cost of £1,745 (March 2019) - can totally recommend getting someone else to do the work in just under a day!

A few days old now, but if anyone's got a Western Digital MyBookLive device you're advised to disconnect it from your router and access it directly as they've had a breach (thread on the WD forums here).
Ours, fortunately, wasn't wiped. I know they're the 'Fisher Price' of the NAS world, but they were very convenient for our video and music files to be shared with Kodi and Sonos-es-es.

Is anyone looking for a Mac Mini at the moment? My parents have just swapped over to an iMac and as such have got the old box kicking about so asked if I knew anyone that was after one before they took it to CEX etc.
It’s this late-2014 one (A1347) - 1.4GHz dual-core i5 (2.7GHz turbo boost), 4GB 1600MHz LPDDDR3 onboard memory, 500GB 5400-rpm hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 5000.
It’s in Peterborough at the moment although it could be posted (or potentially brought to the Dartford area if timings work). Any sensible offers considered!

I’d like to think we could keep hold of him, especially as he’s got himself a national call-up for Argentina now too, but the whole club’s ‘self sustainable’ philosophy is to move players on when there’s an acceptable offer.
£40m appears to be the open secret, which to me genuinely sounds cheap as I reckon he’s good enough to play for any of the top sides. Would be amazed if he’s part of our squad by the time the season starts.

Ah, I don’t mind what I get to be honest but was just an observation having not seen the centres other people I know in their 40s were offered as an option.
The NHS news update suggests it’ll be Pfizer/Moderna - ‘People 39 and under without an underlying health condition will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance last week’.

Just booked mine up through the website (I'm 39), mainly pharmacies as options which I assume is because they're better set up to store Pfizer/Moderna shots?

If you have the Apple Pencil too it means you can use the iPad as a graphics tablet too* - I don’t pretend to know how it works without wires anywhere but it’s another example of how I’m now tied into the Apple ecosystem!
- will be putting an old but still functional Wacom Intuous 3 up for grabs shortly once I’ve packaged it all up

Yep, we’ve got Play:1s in both bedrooms and the kitchen and a Play:3 in the lounge and it definitely is something you only really appreciate once you add extra rooms.
The Play:1s are probably enough for most rooms and you can stereo pair them too which I’m sure would make a big difference if set up properly. As and when we move we’ll probably upgrade and have a shuffle of what we’ve got.
Will pick up the Roam once it’s out for the bathroom and taking into the garden, it’s a much more reasonable price than the Move.

Got an MX Keys keyboard a few weeks ago too (upgraded from the K380 that I'd picked up at the start of lockdown) - it's really nice isn't it?
Now trying to work out if I can really justify swapping out my perfectly adequate MX Anywhere 2 mouse to a newer one purely so they can use the same USB-C charger...

Yep, read a lot of Monevator's posts for a few months before starting to invest in Vanguard's LifeStrategy offering this time last year. The Escape Artist was another one.
There's lots of sites out there off the back of the FIRE movement, we found those two helpful at explaining things pretty simply with some good discussions underneath their posts too.

Potentially got rats out our back...
Worth checking what your council offers for this. We had a rat take up residence in the garden which Dartford council sorted for free - parents in Cambridgeshire had to pay a fee (not for the same rat!), but it was much less stressful getting a professional in to deal with the issue rather than trying to work out which poison/trap would be best.

Back the old phone up to iCloud, then use Quick Start. It's very straight forward.
Looking back at the old days of writing out all your contacts onto a bit of paper in case the transfer to SIM didn't work as you moved it to a new phone the way iPhone's do transfers/setting up new devices via the iCloud is like magic!

We used Ideal Loft Ladders and they were excellent - new hatch, ladder and full LoftZone into all corners was done in a day (it's roughly 30sq. m) with no mess by an incredibly polite two-man team. Pretty sure we went with them after a recommendation from someone on here.
Excuse the slight fish-eyeing of the shot, but here's a panoramic of one side once done...

Surely elite sport can’t continue running for much longer?
This isn’t meant to sound flippant at all (and fully appreciate it’s all ‘bread and circuses’ really) but having live sport on doesn’t half distract from the general monotony of the news updates during the week, which is why I’m sure they’re trying to keep it active.
Just can't imagine how strong this one will be - the amplified imperial Stay Puft they did at 12.8% felt plenty! I did quite like their Double 99 (9.9% 'Soft Serve Imperial Stout') and their Imperial Mint Chocolate Stay Puft was incredibly moreish.
In other brewery news, if anyone signed up to Brewdog & Friends when it started you'd have got a couple of free 4-pack of Punk IPA codes in June...whilst at the time it required P&P to be paid there's now a free delivery window for a week so it's literally a free 4-pack of Punk delivered to your door.
