We had a house with two decorative open fireplaces when I was young.
Absolutely beautiful the two times a year you managed to get it burning happily.
Not fun when you realised that air pressure was high and it would either not burn, or all the fumes where pushed down the chimney. Then I had the pleasure of living in places with oven heating (wood back in switzerland, coal here in Berlin).
Terrible. But in Berlin low rent places like this still exist. In my opinion, if you're not out in the open countryside burning your own forest, it's plain stupid to have any kind of real fire going on.

Maybe a low shelf/storage in front of window all the way from wall to door?
Plant, TV, lamp on it. Kids stuff inside, then you have more space on the table side?
Hang lamp over table lower with a cozy bulb.
Install indirect floodlight for lowlight craft sessions.
Agree with the votes for round table or rug.
Can what's in the hanging shelve go somewhere else?
Then you could have pictures there. -
Nice bikes, nice dog. Also thanks for reminding me that summer will come back.
@Gewürzt I have a bakfiets short. Its old (doesn't have that crazy seat tub e angle yet) and in the end it cost me maybe third of a bullit.
Its definitely not built for speed, but does a great job as a relaxed shopping bike.
Which is great because I don't need any more anger on the way to the supermarket than I already feel bc of idiots in cars. -

Yes, thats the bed. All furniture is brick...
Definitely not for me either, also the site doesn't seem to have layouts, so hard to say if you could make it useful.
Posted it because its extreme, and I enjoy some of the other houses you could buy if you were Belgian.
It's like the modern house, but instead of nicely staged interior shots the houses are empty and sad.
Also agree regarding drafts, houses like this are very high on the nightmare to get insulated scale. Imagine what those windows would cost!
And hitting your toes almost daily as an extra benefit as mentioned by others.
But if I was well rich I would buy it, at least if Belgium is still that good for tax optimisation. -
I hope not.
I don't expect a frame builder to have taste.
But I expect them to mount a rack a bit better. Also how wet will the 500$ light get.
