Hi, Rivendell means inside leg minus 10 = seat height from BB.
Does that mean your legs are 81cm long then? That would be just the same as that friend of mine.Does 52 fit you well or do you think it could be 55 too? (Considering my friend (5'11 but very short legs) is going to use that frame with short stem and risers)

Hey, warming this up again:
I have recommended the Colossi Rambler CX to a friend of mine.
He's quite a heavy chap (100kg) and not so tall (1.78m), what size would you recommend?
Important: he will not use drops on this, but a short stem and risers, as this is going to be just a city and fun bike for short trips in the woods etc.
I am a bit confused as the geometry table http://www.colossicycling.com/products/bike-frames/208/rambler-cx only goes up to max size '58' (ctt not ctc!), so that would be a 'small medium' size in the road/track bike world.

Title says it all, I am still looking for a road or track frame (horizontal dropouts) with a large seattube (57-60cm CTC), but a very short toptube (55-56cm CTC) and a generally tight geometry and steep angles.
Please, no slack/relaxed/mudguard-eye frames. I want this to be a whippy and compact beater, i.e. it's no problem if it has dents or bad paint.
COLOR: BLACK or GREY / SILVER
This search is active as long as you can see it here.
PM please!

Columbus MAX crown overview:
Genuine MAX, lugged (often with panto, 0° rake):

Genuine MAX, smooth (usually 0° rake, I guess any visually straight-bladed forks built with this crown are actually curved blades which are curved just very slightly):

Long Shen (Taiwan) MAX, lugged (usually with 7° rake, also available as wide CX version):

Long Shen (Taiwan) MAX, smooth (usually with 7° rake):

Samson (Japan) MAX, smooth (0° rake, with ring that (I guess) can be smoothed if desired):

Venom MAX, smooth (not sure where this comes from, just saw it once here on the forum):

Custom made MAX:

Columbus AIR (similar to Genuine MAX smooth, but other blades and different teardrop design)

You mean why I'm not soldering it myself? Because I don't know anything about brazing/soldering, so I just prepare the parts and give them to someone with more experience, as I think a well-built fork is quite safety relevant.
25mm is tight, yes. It's more a guess right now, it will be somewhere between 25 and 30mm, we'll see when the parts are here. They will be 1" threaded.
I see that LE21 matches the crown, but for some reason I like it better with smooth ends.
So if the tubes are 14mm OD and 0.9 strength, the LE20 with 12mm should fit in there fine, right?By the way, any idea where to get a genuine max 1" crown instead of those far-east clones?

Ok, that's what I assumed! So you think there would be enough play in LC36-4 to go from 7° to 4.5° without any filing/modification necessary?
Dropouts: do I understand correct that MAXL16V2 are 14mm OD at the end, so it has to be either LE20 or LE21?

Hi, I'm planning to build forks, and I'd like to use Columbus MAXL16V2 straight blades from Ceeway.
What I'm not clear about is the choice of the fork crown - it will be either the LC36-4 or the B40 crown.
(see http://www.framebuilding.com/NEWPARTSPAGES/Cast%20Fork%20Crowns.htm)My problem is that both crowns have a built-in 7° rake. At 700c size, that would mean around 40mm rake. I would prefer much less rake (around 25mm), which would equal a 4.5° rake, i.e. clearly less than those built-in 7°.
I wonder what the solution is? Filing? Or is there enough tolerance to build the forks with 4.5° with the components as they are? Is one of the two crowns more suitable in this case? (as one is lugged, the other is seamless).
I have not build a fork before and I will not solder these myself, I will just do the preparatory work.
Thanks for your advice!

Hi,
I am offering my Mielec Track frame, triple-triangle, pursuit/lo pro style (sloping) top tube, smooth welds, black, st/tt 59x59cm ctc, as a trade only for a track frame (Mielec or anything else) with similar lo-pro-ish (but 700/700c)geometry, but:- shall be Alu as well, and must have smooth welds as well
- sloping top tube as well, but a bit less
- slightly smaller size, something more like 57x57 or so
- no triple triangle, as I'd like to try something new
- I'd love a fat downtube
- fully 1 1/8 integrated as well, please
This request is valid as long as it is visible here, as I guess it will take some time.
PM me!
Best,
jetski - shall be Alu as well, and must have smooth welds as well

How much seat post is showing in your 52 frame / 81cm leg setup?
A lot, or rather few?
