Make sure you have back ups before taking your laptop in for repair!
Last year I took my 2011 15" MBP in to Apple for the logic board/graphics repair. They done the repair and called me to say the hard drive was now dead. The only option was to format and reinstall OSX. I had no recent backup so they let me come in and sit at the genuis bar, plug in an external hdd to my mbp and copy files across. I am not sure how they did this but it worked. Then they tried to format and install OSX but it wouldn't work. Two different employees kept trying over and over again, then reluctantly they ended up having to put a new hard drive in.
It was annoying, but I should of had a recent backup and you would never get service like that from dell, hp, sony etc.

Sorry should of put more detail. I already use it set up with one of those cables but it's too short so looking for a longer one.
Was just wondering if the eBay cable will be ok quality wise? Or should I spend money on a decent 2xRCA to 3.5mm jack cable?
