I had to laugh when the riba house of the year 2023 architects were going on about having a modest budget and it was something like £550k. (they did wangle quite a lot of house for that money tbf but it’s hardly modest)

they should do a small budget (<£65k? <£50k?) category. too many money guns evident on the list

mine is 1080p only because I only have one 4K source really (discovery+). don’t pay for disney or netflix 4K, don’t use bluray and only have a series S. picture is decent on horizon up to very large screen sizes imo

no - doesn’t work sat on the floor. would def need a UST if that’s how you intend to use it. I place mine either on my dining table or an old camera tripod (it has a mounting screw on the bottom). and then just tidy it away when done.

it has an external brick which is reasonably sizeable but not an issue I’ve encountered so far. the new xgimi horizon ultra looks even nicer. only other thing to note is it’s not the brightest during day running (see pic). it’s watchable but compromised. crispy when the light is dimmed. and it lacks some apps (e.g. 4player, iPlayer) but you can cast most things to it or add a third party streaming puck

if you’re going to place it off square and use its autokeystone feature, I wouldn’t bother.

I’ve got an xgimi horizon - highly recommended. not ultrashort throw but very portable and the sound is half decent (harmon kardon inbuilt speakers). I move it frequently between rooms depending on what’s going on. sits in my office during the day so I can watch cycling while I work then easy enough to move it to living room at night with minimal faff

I had a very reactive dog and I only took her to the park twice - as part of her training and it was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. I knew to stay away from the park normally as there’s an assumption there will be lots of off lead dogs there. where you dont expect to find off lead dogs is in the street but it does happen. personally, always thought that was a bit selfish.
