I was showing my niece and nephew some of the school archive my mum kept.
School reports - from the days when teachers wrote what they really thought, not pussy-foot around. One teacher, a huge bully, who once tore up my chemistry homework in front of the whole sixth-form because he thought I'd cheated when I got almost full marks (I hadn't) wrote
Chemistry - "Conceptually beyond her".A story about when I grow up "I want to be a singer like Peggy Lee". Which I think demonstrates a time when aside from watching Top of the Pops, and maybe listening to the top 40 on the radio, the only exposure to music you ever got was stuff your parents played. If they didn't listen to current music, neither did you.
But the biggest thing was reading a something that I wrote at the age of 6, which was a write-up of my weekend, where I had shut my finger in the door and my mum had "force-fed me wine" (explains an awful lot) and a different day when I ran up the road in my nightdress and dressing gown only to be "smacked hard" when I came home.
I'm guessing if any teacher read that now, Social Services would be immediately sent to intervene and I'd be taken into care.

such cutie.
back to the subject of pet insurance. I was very worried about how much the premium would change once Sam reached 9 as everything i had read said it would rise horrifically. But so far i neednt have feared- the renewal has come through and it is the excess which has risen from 87 to 125 -still not too bad. hopefully it stays like this.

I did one in the past and was sadly disappointed. Great if you want to buy stuff and know what you want to buy to grab the discount but just don't ask the Evans staff any questions. One tried to sell me MTB tyres for my Fuji.
I mentioned on the feedback form what a poor experience it was and was happy to talk to them about what they should do right but no one has dared to get in touch.

I'm with PetPlan. Probably costs a bit more than other policies but never been any quibble and it covers dental and whole of life treatment, so if the cat gets a chronic illness it is covered for life.
The vets like it too (not sure if they get commission) but it means the vet instantly knows what is covered.
The limit of normal cover is around £4000 a year, which from my experience is enough to cover a cancer tumour removal and some. This is the second cat I've had insured under Pet Plan and honestly I cannot recommend them highly enough. Sam 7 spent his final days in a specialist pet hospital and had an MRI, which came to around £2500. I only had to pay £85.
The only thing to be wary about is when your renewal month is, because if the cat is having treatment around renewal date you might get caught with paying the excess twice.

I'm having a much better time at the moment.
What I've been doing:
Leaving both my ipad and mobile in the other room
Going to bed about the same time each night, around 10-10.30pm
Reading a physical book before sleeping
Using a proper alarm clock to wake me up in the morning, not my phone
If I wake up I'm not to get up unless I'm really awake, then I can make a hot drink and sit and read a physical book but no Internet or tv. If this happens I am falling asleep again really quickly. It is really working... It is 21.50 and I'm ready to drop.

Just in case anyone is driving on Saturday, there is roadwork chaos planned for the A406 to the Waterworks Roundabout. I know from previous weeks this is not a fun experience to get caught up in.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the list of Messages in the PM function is getting confusing, particularly when the other person has deleted/removed themselves from the conversation.
When someone deletes the PM it currently says
SUBJECT OF PM @Shoosh started 17 days ago • 3 comments @Shoosh
replied 17 days agoSo without going into the PM I can't see who I originally sent it to.
If that person was still part of the conversation, it only shows the avatars and not the name of the person with you sent the PM to, which can be equally confusing if they are using the standard avatar.
Also it is possible to have proper date/time stamps on PMs rather than 17 days ago, 1 month ago, over a year ago?

yep! "if she had been bothered to turn up at the right time, with the right exercise book... "
and
"Doesn't concentrate. Too playful." from the metalwork teacher who was bending over a vice when I hit him on the backside with a metal file. (I was only pretending to hit him and someone came along and pushed my arm).
