Functional nerds: talk to me about rims. 29er /700c disc rims, capable of loaded touring, daily hauling, some offroading/bikepacking. Probably going to be building up a Vagabond in a couple of months, in a all-road/touring style with the option to put knoblies on in the summer and go further offroad.
Any reasons for/against tubeless for a commuting and touring bike? I've notices Schwalbe have a tubeless version of the marathon this year, and some other road tubeless tyre, or there's the new light Soma tyres (not specifically tubeless though) hoping for something between 40-50c.
Going to building up wheels with an SP dynamo on the front, hence not really looking for wheelsets.

Why is it so common to use render in the first place then? Genuinely interested. There certainly are internal issues which I'm seeking to address (cold / damp bathroom) but the render is clearly damaged, letting in water and getting worse.
Unfortunately as this is a shared freehold, that's probably not an option.

The render on the back elevation of my flat is probably buggered. Inner wall of bathroom has always been damp, and now, upon drilling through we find it is inside. There are cracks at the edges of windows with a metal edging rusting underneath. Is it a case of ripping it all off and starting again?
Silver lining is the side return seems fine.

Bit late maybe, but had you seen these: 550g claimed weight and 22mm internal http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sun-ringle-rhyno-lite-pinned-rim/rp-prod76082

The right hand is the party wall with next door (terrace) and the left is shielded from the outside by the void. Also half that external wall is covered by the boiler room come shed which probably has some thermal buffering effect. I'm replacing the radiator for a tall towel rail, and getting the window replaced, the current one condensates like a motherfucker. If that doesn't sort it out then I'll have to look at insulating that wall I guess. I actually want to make the shower more steamy as it's a bit feeble at the moment (electric).
oh, and the replacement air comes from the outlet via the kitchen, with some recovered heat.

Pretty sure the outside wall is going to be block-work. Victorian terrace, ground floor, with bathroom at the back, outside of the wall is rendered. Not so sure of the inner wall, which comes off that area into the kitchen. Sounds solid, I did a little sketch of the area in this post. Any thoughts on what it's likely to be? The hole through to the kitchen will be quite high and in an awkward space which makes me less eager to do it myself.

What trades should I be asking when looking for someone to do some core drilling? I've found one specialist but he lives a while away, so wants a ton for each hole. Does that seem like a fair price for someone who knows what they're doing?
edit: oops, meant to post in the 'owning your own home' thread. oh well.

Yeah, Crests are definitely an option, bit unsure of their max pressure rating though, no info on the Stans site.
