Hi all,
Sadly looking to move on this rather unique and lovely bicycle, I’ve finally had to admit that my legs are just slightly too short. I’m pretty sure it’s 57cm square but I’ll double check if anyone is genuinely interested.
I’m told, by Thorn themselves, that it’s most likely a custom order from the late 80s/early 90s. It will be 531 but the exact gauge of the various tubes would have been selected by the customer.
Many of these frames were overseen or ‘refurbished’ by Argos (hence the decals), as the two companies worked closely during that period of time.
It’s a beautiful, glittery blue that needs to be seen in the sun to truly appreciate. Lugs a plenty and full of braze-ons to hang stuff on, including 3 bottle cage mounts in classic Thorn style (the third is underneath the down-tube).
I built this up originally as more of a road focused machine, but eventually reformatted it into much more of a fun/chill beast. It’s a great frame for someone who likes to tinker and change things like me, very flexible.
It’s currently running 1x9 with a race face narrow-wide chainring, a fairly wide cassette, and my indexed thumbie of choice (Sunrace) mated to Rivendell’s favourite Deore ‘Shadow’ derailleur. Tyres are 33.3c Jack Browns with the checkerboard tread, wheels are mavic touring rims and shimano hubs (if I remember correctly), nothing fancy. Sporting tektro mini-v's and a very cool all-in-one bar and stem combo.
Wald basket set up not included, but the hardly used Brooks Cambium C17 All-Weather is!
Paint job isn’t mint, it’s not a show room piece and there are superficial surface scratches here and there. But structurally speaking it’s tip top 👌 The shifting could probably use a fresh index, it’s been dry-stored and unused for the last 6months.
I’m looking for
£450£420£395£320! (excl. saddle)Collection from Hoxton (N1).
Any questions, give me shout 🙏

These are great bikes, and this is built up with some tasty parts. So free bump for that.
That said, not sure if you’ll get much interest on here at £1k+ though…
Here’s a cross check I sold for example (admittedly a 9speed): https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/318493/

All gone, in one, on one bike…
Thanks to @Thrasher - legend!

Hello again all, thanks for the messages. Currently everything is being taken by @Thrasher
I’ll update the thread if that falls through…

Hey all,
I’m relocating out of London and have to part ways with a bunch of bike stuff.
I’ve already chucked the overly worn or useless stuff but still have a big pile of nice or useful things that I don’t want to bring.
I’m offering everything for free, but if your taking a frame you must take either the bag or the box with you. No splitting individual items I’m afraid as I’m in a bit of a rush!
Im not going to list everything but the box contains some nice components including brakes, shifters, cranks and stems. (White industries, velo orange, etc)…
The bag contains larger components including a nice selection of bars (mtb, gravel and road), a solid Porter rack and panniers etc. With these I will also include 2x H Plus Son rims that are used but useable.
Lovely Joe Waugh frame, quality lightweight steel with canti mounts is a 56cm square and the nice retro steel mtb (fully repainted and treated) is 19” seat tube and 21.5” ish top tube. Both in solid condition and ready to be built up.
Also have a pair of Giro Technes in size 10 and decent condition that I can throw in too if any collector is interested.
Based in SE23, collection anytime before Wednesday. Let me know if you’re interested, no dibs I’m afraid just first come first served!
Thanks,
Joe

Also, thanks to @Oddo for sending over some nice shots that show off the cavernous nature of the car's rear end. Taken during a bikepacking weekender in the New Forest:

@adroit - Awesome, strong green. Looks in good nick too!

Thanks all for the lovely comments!
@EcuriePeril - great to hear your scimitar stories, these cars certainly do put a smile on your face. My dad also had an SE4 Coupe which he also just sold, they're stunning machines!

1978 Reliant Scimitar SE6A GTE
Pastel Green
Automatic
86k miles
Historic vehicle (exempt from Road Tax, MOT and ULEZ)Another icon from the Ogle Design studio - alongside the Raleigh Chopper, the Bond Bug and Luke Skywalker’s XP-24 Landspeeder.

Perhaps it’s a long shot on here, but I’ve found it to be a highly practical daily driver, especially with the benefit of not having to worry about the soon to expand ULEZ zone in London.
With the rear seats folded, the luggage area expands to 40 cubic feet and easily accommodates 2+ adult bikes, tent, camping gear, full backpacks, and grocery shop all at once.
The car was certainly designed to eat up longer trips with ease and the lovely Essex V6, 20 gallon fuel tank (capable of 500 mile stints) and rust-free fibreglass body mean it’s both long legged and ready for use in UK weather. Of course, it’s also very handy for big supermarket shops in style.
I know this is technically against the rules (it’s just been listed here for £8.5k), but I wanted to offer it up for a slightly reduced £8k for fellow LFGSSers.
It’s currently based in Oxford but London viewings can easily be arranged. Many more pictures and information in the advert link above.
Any questions, feel free to drop me a message on here and am happy arrange a phone call if preferred.
Many thanks,
Joe
