The Boxster went in the end, I loved and hated it all at the same time. I put the demise down to the following;
Me being tight and not taking more time to buy a better example.
I learnt that I really dislike convertibles, hence the hardtop.
It was very annoying to work on and spanner.
My wife found it uncomfortable and buying a dog rendered effectively useless.Sad times really, but I had a blast with it for 20 months, so I can't complain too much.

Picked one up at the weekend (e87 130i), quite surprised by the way it delivers the performance, it’s on par with my 986 Boxster.
Decent factory spec, full leather, heated seats, pro Idrive & xenon’s. With the addiction of some nice enhancements:-
Upgraded discs, pads & fluid
Progressive Lsd
Bc racing coilovers (BR series)
Rear k brace
M3 lower control arms -

Picked up this Rockhopper last week for reasonable price, I believe it is 1988 production year. I never knew they made one with the brake caliper mounted under the chain stays.
I’ve really trimmed down my collection down to 2 builds. The Gazelle Monostay & Vitus Sentier MTB. I got rid of my CAAD-X bike packing/gravel bike to @mustard who is doing really a nice build.
This one will fill the bike packing void as it’s got all the mounts, and will make a wonderful Somerset spinner to get my artisan Saturday morning bakery goods and my Saturday afternoon rough cider.
I have 2 plans/minds for this build:-
Plan 1
Strip it all down, clean it up and reuse all the existing componentsPlan 2
Strip it all down and spank loads of $$$ on it -

Following your readers report over on boxanet, sorry to hear that about the clutch. Interest to know the outcome costs, as mine is going to need a clutch shortly -

It’s a classic design, and that looks really clean, I bet you’re pleased with it. In hindsight I wish I spent a little bit more time and money finding a better one, the Porsche goggles got to me!
I need to carry on with the mechanicals:-
DIY Jobs
Rear brakes
Front condensers
Finish the retrofit interior (door cards)
Water pump & thermostat
Coils & spark plug tubes
Suspension refreshSpecialist Jobs
New clutch and other jobs recommended at the same time (IMS/RMS).I need the Boxster in good shape for 2024 for my 40th, got a trip planned involving Stuggart.

I've had an E87 before, boring 120d that I bought on 80k and finally died on 125k. At 90k the timing chain guides went, that was the first major bill as it needed a new vibration damper as well, that added £500 to the large bill. Then at 125k the HPFP lunged the engine and wrote it off.
Anyway...... I got this 130i as stop-gap car. We are in the process of selling the house so I didn't want to get my wallet out here. It's an interesting spec; full leather, heated seats, pro Idrive & xenon’s (potentially not factory). With the addiction of some nice enhancements:-
Upgraded discs, pads
Progressive LSD
Bc racing coilovers (BR series)
Rear k brace
M3 lower control arms
I have already done 500 miles in it and it's a blast, real good fun.
