I've got one of these, and much as I like it, I've had various problems. These may well be down to assembley by the retailer (Evans) rather than the bike itself.

The headset was set up wrong such that after a few hours riding it became very stiff. Both mudguards were set too low at the brake mounting point, rubbing against and damaging the tyres, The rear wheel had 3 broken spokes within the month I've owned it.

In fairness to Evans and Ridgeback, they've sorted all of this out quickly, and I now have a bike with better components than new at no extra cost, but it has been a significant inconvenience. I'll need to give it a few more months before I can comment on its long term reliability now this teething troubles are hopefully sorted.

Usually I can go all week without seeing a roadie going my way on the commute, but today's strike has forced them all to actually use their weekend bikes. Unfortunately, riding one day a week isn't enough to be competitive in the brutal world of commuter racing. Only the chap on the colnago got away, and he actually sprinted down a hill in order to escape me; an 18 stone bloke on a single speed with racks and mudguards.

Glad I left early given the weather now. Hope no one got dissolved.

Will probably be along for a quick pint. Need to keep it sensible this evening given yesterday's excess.

Aaaar, I bring news of a mighty bounty at the local provisions house (Asda). They have looted a cargo of Navy Rum, and are selling it for only 11 sovereigns a bottle. Ideal for making grog.

FWIW, the Doom Bar was good (not perfect, but perfectly drinkable) tonight.

Yeah, I was there tonight - the Sambrook's junction was crap, the Wandle was very good. The risk of drinking on a Monday I guess, they were both fine on Saturday.

Well that was fun, even if I do usually prefer to finish rides with the same amount of scars as I started with.
