I agree. Slightly underwhelming even with the steel case. The back is one of those pry open ones. With that said. I've used my F91W's plenty in water with no issues and those are also just rated "water resistant".

Looking for a cheapish amp and have been offered a Rega Brio R for £220. Good deal?
It's either that or equiv. priced chinese class d amp at this point. I'm a cheap bastard.

If i were to go for the Rega. What would be the recommended path in terms of tone controls? I'm so accustomed to being able to tweak the treble/bass slightly. A preamp? Can it be done digitally in a streamer like the Bluesound Node?

I get what you mean. I'm not particularly bothered by the homage aspect. I just prefer the dial on the Nivada. For some reason i find the dial on the PRX to look a bit cheap. I don't know if its the super thin indicies paired with the structured dial, or the type. At as whole and at a glance i like it but there's something off about it. Never been hugely impressed by Tissot.

Kind of tempted to try that PRX now that it's in my size. But the nivada F77 is also a vibe.

Yeah i doubt i'll be doing hammertone even if i like the finish. Just feels wrong with these lugs.

Regarding build i have something like this but with fenders in mind.

Attacked the forks a little. Will proceed to do the whole frame some day, just need to dig up the ol' angle grinder or a faster drill and get a brush/scotch pad that isn't as coarse.

Re: paint. Just got reminded of hammertone finishes. I did a frame a couple of years ago that turned out quite alright with the brush-on hammerite paint. Not sure if i will go that route but it's a low cost alternative. Hammerite red is quite similar to the current red (remaining) paint.
