We have a male and a female mechanic- both are extremely careful. n of 1 of course.....
The male mechanic is slightly more inclined to give stuff away for free. Then his wife hits him over the head with the large torque wrench.....
That's because living costs money and will cost more given the recent budget. You'll have to reduce the giveaways mate :-).
Carry on Corrine.

Camel back for the water, that's what i'm doing - Ok girls, who's wearing lycra?
Is there anything else to wear? Lycra padded shorts with a running vest as I expect to sweat like a stuck pig. I'll bring a change of clothing just in case Mr Right version 3 makes an appearance/I'm completely sweat-soaked.
Two panniers, loaded probably as I seem unable to travel light but will try and one old Camelback (hope there are no bugs in the tube but will re-clean it). As much as my skin is made for the sun, I might beg a touch of whatever factor stuff is around, unless I can find a teeny bottle tomorrow.
I was worried about this ride before but am now getting excited especially as I got Babygirl (my bike) checked over this evening and she was given a clean bill of health for the event. Will have a p.r kit but with a 'manual' pump.
See you Saturday!

I'll bring fig rolls ... yay, I love fig rolls (or is that another thread ...).
Back on the bike today after the recent bump, reckon I'll still be in the running for the ride, but anyone who needs an excuse for walking the hills can use my knees!!
Excellent! I'll even give you a chocolate roll for being so good :-).

weave about all over the road make car drivers intentionally nervous make those feet hover over the brake pedals then smile and say have a nice day :)
I did that when I first commuted on the road as a very very nervous noob. Didn't smile though as was scared someone would run me over. Panic attack at E&C roundabout anyone? Cycle training before and after helped and I've another training lesson coming up next Saturday.

Hmm, that's the kind of stuff I found when I googled the symptoms. I've been putting off going to the doctors because I'm worried they might say something like that, guess I'd better go next week :(
On the plus side I am generally feeling better, presumably diabetes or whatever wouldn't come and go?
Thanks anyway Henry.
I would pop into your local pharmacy tomorrow or A&E and see if they can do you a sugar (prick)test. If you are diabetic you need treatment asap not on Monday. Diabetes is either type 1 or type 2 and you need to know which one you may have. In the meantime, ensure you take enough sugars/carbs during your waking hours so you don't 'slump' like you have been.

Awful or brilliant. I'm tempted either way.
Cafewanda - more than happy to walk them with you if necessary! - the only hills I can remember going up are Vanbrugh and Crooms Hill in Greenwich. 3 years ago. And without a bike.(But with a cello in a flight case. Should have attached a motor to it)
Thanks for the offer Charlotte83. Let's see what happens on the day. Hopefully I'll surprise myself (please God).

wife went to London at weekend and saw van driver wanting to turn left with indicator on-had to "park up" and wait while 20 or so (and she's not prone to exaggerate)cylists undertook-some cyclists are not trying to endear themselves to motorists and with so many riding riskily it must be fluke that there are'nt more collisions
That behaviour is standard on my commute. I'm one of the few who will drop back to let vehicles do their thing or slow down/stop to let vehicles emerge from side roads. Most of the time it seems like a waste as everybody else undertakes or overtakes.
Cycle training - so very useful, but I consider myself a commuting newbie of 18 months.

First ride out w/ LFGSS. Scherrit said it was a very friendly bunch - but wow! Such a nice friendly welcome - everyone Many thanks to the kind marshals who risked life & limb (or at least being hooted at) to keep us all safe. It was a great route - but bum & 'other parts' a little the worse for wear. Serve me right for not getting out on my bike more!!
For anyone who is lurking here & is worried about coming along to an event (eg; I haven't got a fixed wheel bike, I'm a bit shy, I don't know anyone) - my advice is to come. I can honestly say I have never met such a friendly non-cliquey group. Plus, if we all chip in for some clipless pedals for Jenne - the entertainment will be priceless . . .
After watching that slo-mo fall I'll definitely put in for the pedals. Read about these so often on another forum, seeing it for real made my afternoon (once I realised she wasn't hurt).
Would be glad to join another ride if gears are allowed as yesterday's was the furthest I've ridden since getting on a bike 18 months ago. Got home, had dinner and crashed on the sofa so I really need to do some more long distance rides :).
Once again, thanks ladies!!

Whilst I'll have a pr kit, I've tried to use my manual pump only to discover it's Schrader-only. So make the necessary sacrifices to the P Fairy please.
