Had a great bash round peaslake today, but have bent the rails on my saddle, any good recomendations for a budget, strong, fairly narrow number?

Also where else to go south out of London? Swinley doesn't do it for me, but need more place to ride.

Blue - W36, IL31
Duck - W34, IL32

But they are pretty similar in fit, the blue ones have a lower rise so sit lower, if you know what I mean. Blue ones are slightly slimmer and more tapered.

Anyway, if you want them, let me know. I also have a pair of similar sized grey Rapha trousers to sell, but I'm going off topic now...

I have a couple of carhartt selvedge cotton/canvas jeans to sell - one navy one classic duck, both 34 x 32. Will put them up on classifieds with some other stuff when I get a chance, but there might be someone interested on here. Was thinking of £35 each...

True, I should probibly stick with the on one Inbred as it rides well and fits, I just like stripping and building new bikes! Or change just for fun, can always sell on the frame I like least. Sunday afternoons are all about finding an excuse for anew bike project!

I guess that is the forever discution between steel and Alu, does the stiffer rear end mean you have more drive and grip, or a more skitty feel to the ride, which may make it more fun......

has anyone riden a Dartmoor Hornet? I slightly fancy trying an Alu frame, as have always riden steel. Just for a change really.

There is a fallen tree across barry at the moment, just after the drop in, but you can see it far enough in advance, just a tad annoying.

Yogurts is still in reasonable shape, Then there is the hack across from Yogurts to what we call Narrowboat, Entrance is to the right as you go back to the lookout and the fire trails fork. Keep heading striaght across, then when you see a fallen tree across a trail turn right, rooty, into narrow with low trees, then opens into muddly aquaplane section. Then back round the fire trail to BNB, about an hour loop.

Got a bit of everything.

Sorry that is about a good set of diredtions I can give from memory.

It's all very ridable, I was there on Friday morning and the week before in the rain.

There is enough stuff to find, then finish at BNB. A good mix with some rooty slippery bits and dryer sander runs like BNB.

It has consitently been the most ridable compared to other place I have been this year.

Can anyone recommend a good place to ride near London that's not a quagmire at the moment? So bored of mud.

Try out Peaslake, it's quite sandy so stays in good shape whatever the weather. There are two hills, Holmbury & Pitch, Pitch is more muddy, but still ridable.

What's the sterer length on the forks? and are they qr?

£100 seems a bit high for second hand to me, based on a new ss being £120, sure you could pick one up fot £75 ish, they do pop up all the time so a bit of patients and a good deal can be found.

Had a muddy outing at Bedgebury yesterday, very slippy, but lots of fun. Talking tyres I have a smorgsborg 2.25 on the rear and continetal x-king 2.4 on the front, both appear about the same size, smorgs is pretty chucky, but grippy, conti felt very loose and slippy in the deep mud. Went for the conti on the front as it was a fair bit lighter but think double Smorgs may have been a better winter option.

On another note, anyone put 27.5 wheel in 26er frame? Looking at it as a ss ridged option on the cheap(ish)

On one Inbred.

Thinking of upgrading my forks from rockshox recon 351, but not sure what to go for. Looking for 130/40mm travel and probs AM so I feel I can go anywhere, or that they are better than I am!

I took the inner and outer ring of my crank, and cut the old worn outer to make the washers as that is what I had to hand, works well and puts the chain central.

I'm looking for more places to go. I'm in SE Lonodn and happy to travel an hour or so. Have been to Swinley, not to fussed, been to Peaslake, much better and the kind of place I like, any suggestions welcome.

How would I go about this, gone for on one on the rear and x cross on the front as it was alot lighter than the chunkey monkey. Probs won't make any differnce to me, but will help with the pycology on the way up!
