Is it time to mention the fact that Switzerland aren't technically part of Europe? With the retrospective disqualification of L'equipe from 2009 and 2010 standings, that would make the teams placed 2nd in each the winners. Whoever they were.
Switzerland is part of Europe... unless they have moved their country outside of the European continent. They just don't belong to the European Union...
-
Currently Americans can play in the Euros if they live in Europe, or sub onto a European team, or if they ask the tournament organisers directly... should this change?
If we keep to city/scene boundaries only then does a team have to have existed in that city/scene for a length of time before being eligible? If not, then can an American team come over for a holiday and compete for one of said city/scenes slots?
There's been a lengthy discussing on this at the LOBP.
What it comes down to is that a foreign team must qualify in their respective city/country of choice in order to be able to earn their spot. -
Maybe that the Idea of country vs city is to see be the point of view of the organizers. What is the more easier way to give slot:
-Have like 80 cities who want 64 slots
-Have like 10 coutrny for 64 slots.Allowing spots by country seems to be a more manageable choice.... specially next year as the worlds will not be hosted in Europe and the number of teams being capable to travel overseas is greatly reduced.

Yeah, I see a lot of speculation about Barcelona and I must apologize if we have kept it pretty quiet so far.
Here are some of the insights as to what we intend to do.The dates we are looking are late may, early june. The weather gets crazy hot in here and we don't want to have people dropping like flies in the middle of a match.
We are looking into getting the maximum amount of courts in order to host the maximum amount of teams. Looking at what happened this year in Geneva and the growth of the polo community in Europe, I believe it would be unrealistic to host less than 48 teams. We are trying to get more, but don't count on it yet. As to what the selection process will be..... this is a major headache and I know there will be blood. I have a few ases under my sleeve, though.Having the perfect spot to install 3-4-5 courts is what has been our main concern so far. Hence the silence regarding the rest.
One question though. If there were to be 64+ spots available. Would anyone have a problem not being housed?
if you have any questions, either post them here, the LOBP or drop me an email to alejandro at enciclicka dot com

Alright, I spoke with Jono last night and we came to an agreement. You guys are real lucky to have someone like him taking care of business. What a gentleman!
Anyway, the deal is as follows.
I will take care of this last order, at the agreed price of 9€ shipping included/shaft. I need you to confirm your quantities. The items will be shipped to the address the LHBPA will provide and it'll make the payment on your behalf, so you will need to set your account with them.
A bulk shipment is being prepared for the LHBPA in the near future. When that deal goes through, Perro del Mallet will be available through them at a discount price and you won't need to order directly from me, although you could still do if you wish.
3-2-1 Polo! -
Dick move how?
[]We bumped the thread to see if there was interest in more poles from Alejandro.
[]We contacted Alejandro for a quote for 100 poles, which would have been paid upfront with one delivery address, removing the hassle for both Alejandro and London players.
[]Alejandro then looked to complete the order (as this is his thread afterall) himself.
[]Confusion ensued and we're now stuck at ordering poles individually from Alejandro at a higher price (as he has to deal with the hassle and selling fewer units).Fair enough if Alejandro felt it was cheeky using the "bulk buying power" of London to ask for a reduced price but this is what we were tasked with doing at the LHBPA meeting. We would also have potentially ordered a steady flow of poles in this way and would have put the poles in the hands of new players and for sale at tournaments, etc (which I saw as a good thing for Alejandro).
Once again trying to do everyone a favour has backfired, sorry to all, over and out.
Like I said before, I was very excited at the prospect of having bulk orders being sent to the association. And I was cutting you a deal because of the amount of shafts you were planning on getting. Easy for you, easy for me. I don't feel cheated by the LHBPA for trying to buy bulk. That is not the issue. I was comfortable with that.
The problem arises when we work something out and then all of a sudden you decide that it is no good anymore. I come to the forum and I see this public announcement that goes on a completely different direction of what we had talked before. It is this stuff that makes me uncomfortable.... the least you could have done is talk directly to me about it first. I am pretty sure we could have come to an agreement. There was no need to make this a public display such as it is now. -
I understand your position Jono. I address John because he is the person I've been talking to regarding this matter and the person speaking on behalf of the LHBPA. I've been plenty accomodating regarding a deal with the association. If anything, I was very excited about this prospect.
Nevertheless, I don't like this way of doing business and so I prefer to back down. I trust John can find the absolute cheapest shaft ever. I just prefer to do a more straight-forward deal and he seems a bit blinded by the bottom line.I stand by my product, not only because they are of great quality but because they are very reasonably priced. I don't think I should be selling it for any less as I am already the cheapest one.
-
This is crazy man....
John, you have written me a couple of messages inquiring about the shafts and I've been waiting for the past month for you to tell me your decision.
Now that people want more and are putting down their names again you come and tell me you want people to deal through you so that it is easier for me.... Come on!
And now you go and post such an announcement..... crazy, man. This is crazy
If I was selling expensive stuff at hugh markup prices, if I was a big company trying to milk the polo cow, I'd understand... it's a dog eat dog world. But John, I am selling the absolute CHEAPEST mallet shafts around and I'm just a player trying to make an honest but humble living (and believe me, Perro del Mallet don't pay my bills). Are you really that much in need of saving up to the very last penny?
I am deeply disappointed by how you make the LHPBA look. And to think I was going to print special stickers for your mallets.....I ANNOUNCE HEREBY THAT I WILL NOT DEAL WITH LHBPA FOR ANY MALLET ORDER. IF YOU GUYS WANT TO ORDER, YOU CAN DO IT DIRECTLY FROM ME.
FOR THOSE PEOPLE THAT WANT THEIR NAMES REMOVED FROM THE LIST, FEEL FREE TO DO SO. FOR THE REST, WE KEEP GOING.Cheers!

guys, i have to make an announcement before it is too late.
Shafts are no longer 8€, they are now 10€. Now, before everyone starts freaking out about this let me give you more details.
Shafts are 10€/each. If you buy 15 pieces I ship them for free. Now, you've ordered 55 so far.... so I'll get them to you for 9€/each, shipping included. Sounds good? -

Since Aidan is being all 007 with his bike, let me introduce you mine.
Designed by me over the past 3 months, it is a polo specific frame and fork.
I just tried today and I'm liking it a lot. Very agile, very stable and big fat tires to take those sharp turns on slippery surfaces.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=255595&id=509273681&l=3452606190

Alej, I've only built two mallets up with the poles, I managed to massively bend one right next to the head. This was after a hefty joust with another player also using one of your poles.
The only thing capable of killing a perro del mallet is another perro del mallet!
Like the Highlander, there can only be one!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahahaha

Clem, why are you so stressed about this bid thing?
Take it easy.....
