I like the idea of the silent drafting then shouting 'BOO' when they turn round at lights.
I'll be honest I do sometimes have little commuter races but I feel like a dick afterwards 'Yes! I fucking ditched that granny on that shopper!' This is partly due to the fact I am being inexplicably overtaken by said grannys.

£50? Absolute steel.
FTFY
Nice bike, white dia compe cables would be lush and agree on the nitto north road bars. Front tyre looks like brake pads been rubbing the side wall (unless that's dynamo marks) if so you'll prob need to replace those but stick with gum walls they are oh so good. Also keep the mudguards if in good order, they really suit the frame.
Also are you sure the crank teeth are bent? They may be shaped to aid shifting. If they are uniform and look part of the casting process they arent bent, check with the LBS. Be a shame to lose the chainrings if they are orig

Me too. I thought about bumping this awhile ago, Schick must be channelling me....
Brighton had quite a good one going which I saw ages ago, but it has also died a death by the looks of it.
Hasnt died yet! Just need to upload some photos but have no phone cable. Cambridge were the originators of this i think though

I cant make this but it sounds good. Chris, man up and do the whole thing ;)
If it was me I would suggest a round trip as getting the train back is a bit sucky. Head to the East Beach Cafe in Littlehampton, round trip will be just over 40 miles I think

hey ;)
today i show you all my "smooth" ride.
It's not finish yet (rear wheel missing. I have to polish the rim and hub... Right now i have the bike with a mavic rear wheel just until i will have the other ready)
It's a convertion of a 12speed Peugeot into a SingleSpeed. Maybe i'll have it fixed (i don't know yet)If its not fixed I'd fit a front brake too

Route Just under 40 miles but if you add the distance between your place and the Pier and back its probably makes 40.
Epic speeds reached, Tim what was the average?

So who fancies this? Start at 7 at Preston Park, hopefully ride on closed roads all the way to the finish. We missed out on the last mile or so last year due to overzealous marshals but it was a great ride.
Details of the route can be found here
Last year only Kelvin and I were fixed the rest of the guys were roadies so we need to reprezent innit. List?

Excellent post. I am always wondering what I would do if I were to come across a situation like this. I think learning first aid is a must for everyone not just people who feel that their choice of transport for the commute puts them in a higher risk bracket.
Regardless of blame for either cyclist, ped or driver you have a duty to ensure victims of accidents you are involved in are cared for properly
Rose Hill is right by my hoose, lets go there!!! :)
