Smallfurry seems to understand what I'm getting at. I've found a picture of a Vigorelli with an internal headset on it (or so it appears). This is the 2011 model but I assume they won't have done any tweaking to the design of the headtube in terms of its capability to use an internal headset.

so you want to change a perfectly good headset for the sake of a 0.25 degree change in hta?
even if it was doable, still a complete waste of money imo. money would be better spent elsewhere on the build.
what sumo said. vigorellis handle really nice anyway, if you wanted something super aggressive why didnt you get the histogram?
just to make it clear, im not hating on your bike, just questioning your motives ;)

Not sure why someone is telling me to lower my saddle height. No one has a clue how tall I am. Troll? The saddle doesn't have much of an angle to it (if at all). It just looks like it from the angle this picture was taken from.
Are you are suggesting I get a different stem instead of changing the headset? I think putting in a non-cartridge headset would improve the bike anyway. Get rid of that extra steerer length too - way more than I'd ever need. And then if I did ever want to decrease the saddle-to-bar distance then I can get a stem which rises.
Yeah, I like the paintjob but at the end of the day it's only the image of the bike. Raw looks equally 'cool'.
Nice build, Phil.
Another point to mention is that by putting in a non-cartridge headset you would also make the geometry of the bike ever-so-slightly more aggressive - which would be nice.
the point people are making is that your frame seems to be too small. running that much seatpost and that stem length certainly indicates that.
the saddle should be level with the floor.
how would a non cartridge headset improve the bike?
putting a different headset would not affect geometry. terminology confusion. it could affect the reach if thats what you mean.
putting a stem with rise on a track bike = wouldnt necessarily shorten the reach.
and besides, if you want the bike to have an 'ever-so-slightly more aggressive' feel, definately a bad move. -

gained a stone and a half between october and december last year, due to being hospitalised (which obviously stopped me from cycling), then starting a new job where i sit at a desk for 40 hours a week, reducing my training even more. also being put on a medication which induces a massive appetite hasn't helped!
still battling with the appetite to be honest.....
started a strict diet from january (pretty much the paleo diet) and have since lost all that weight. fucking sucks not being able to eat macdonalds though.the one problem im still facing is trying to get my stomach flat again!
ive been doing a minimum of 50 bicycle crunches a day, 50 pressups a day, plus riding to and from work (20 mile commute), plus gym session 3 times a week (swimming, running, rowing, weights.)
all this combined with only eating vegetables and meat, only drinking water and milk, and still can't get the stomach flat! fml. i have abs, just can't see em unless i tense. so frustrating considering im working my ass off.
anyone got any tips?

hmmm, a week after the edinburgh tourney? i reckon thats pushing it a little bit.....
i think april would be more realistic, give us more time to get accomodation for teams (if needed), tournament software (round robin or swiss, depending on amount of teams) , reffing situation sorted etc....discuss on sunday?
im up for brighton, those courts look awesome. good memories of sleep starvation, 7am beers and general haze....

its 130mm spaced, i know that it is a custom frame, built in the 80s by dave yates, made from reynolds 531c tubing. apparently its a faux pro.
sanddancer, went into steels, seeing if there was anywhere i could get some replacement decals (as id love to have it re-sprayed) but unfortunately, no luck :(
anyone got any recommendations for restoration places?
going into my lbs tomorrow to test some different shifters....

i know. new wheels + paintjob + pedals will sort it out though.
at the moment im just dealing with it. it works, gets me to work and back.
its a 70mm thomson x2. i think to be honest the frameset is a little bit big for me, hence why im considering custom frame in the near future..... man i need to stop spending money on bikes.

been wanting to start a geared project for ages, but just kept making excuses/adapting my brooklyn build.
the time has come to build this frame up properly. it has been everything from a singlespeed shopper build, fixed beater to a polo bike.
so here it is, warts and all -

the emphasis for this is going to be second hand everything. i know absolutely fuck all about gears, brakes etc, so would appreciate lots of input from you experienced folk.
i guess the first big question is, what parts are period correct for this?
please don't suggest anything tan or leather. too grim.
and - shimano or campagnolo?
im willing to commit a decent amount of money into this, but obviously nothing along the lines of dura ace/sram red/super record. at least not the modern stuff anyway, too pricey...

current build, consisting of horrible bmx pedals and a borrowed back wheel....
it works for the time being.

sidi shoes, with cleats i got today, total cost - £40, not bad....
getting some look keo pedals off a mate later in the week
