So... Unintentionally (but happily) got myself into this project. I'm trying to help someone with this and I have so far realised that I will need a special tool to remove the cassette to begin with. However, I am also unsure of what cog size I will need.
The wheel is a "Rigid", is that enough info to go by? It'd be great to find a cheap cog - they do exist for 27" wheels, right?
My plan:
- Remove cassette
- Install freewheel cog
- Chop chain to fit (or will we have to buy a new one?)
Any help/advice is highly appreciated! I hope I've not duplicated a topic, I search the forum and didn't this topic.
Thanks

Well the Claud Butler was a little too far and didn't go for it. But I am basically after something just like that, a tourer but mainly for city/commuting use. I have been to and called many bike shops (that sell vintage bikes).
Can anyone suggest where I might find a Reynolds small tourer-style in London? Anyone selling one that they've not advertised on here? (I have Dawes Galaxy, Raleigh Richmond and Claud Butler Majestique in mind)
Thanks

I am selling this Mercian. Slightly above your budget, but open to offers at this stage!

I just went to check out this http://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/claud-butler-reynolds-531-vintage-racer-racing-road-mixte-frame-bike-20-inch-10-speed/1092475379. It didn't have any rust on the frame, though some components did... Is there a way of telling if these bikes are acquired legitimately...? (e.g. stolen?)
