RE the pop-up socket - I love the ideas of these, however, a lot also have the USB ports built-in. I think most things will be moving to a USBC standard in the coming years so maybe try to pick one of those up to not render yours obsolete in a few years.

I did just drop a lot of money on a new chair, so I'm looking to reinforce my decision as much as possible.

I currently have a very comfy chair but no desk to work at. With WFH looking increasingly more long term I'm going to sort myself out with a desk before long. My back is starting to hurt!

Couldn't agree more. Some of the places I've viewed have what I wouldn't want in a kitchen what so ever yet you're compelled to pay more for.

I'm torn whether to go cheaper but get a renovation place.
