Hey Dicki,
Thanks for the tip about the 8 spokes; I elaborated on it by loosening half the wheel's spokes opposite the section that was giving me problems, then tightening the 8 spokes as per your suggestion. Eventually I managed to get it pretty sweet, just still not sure about what the spoke tensions should be. Still, result!

Hi,
I'm on my first wheel build and although I can get the lateral truing part worked out, I'm really struggling with the vertical truing. I can't seem to get rid of the bad spot (see vid).

I'm doing this without a tensionmeter at the mo, but I'm wondering if it's best to loosen everything and start again WITH a tension meter.
Any thoughts gratefully received!

My girlfriend went in there to get something for my Birthday. Said she's never come across a more disinterested or apathetic shop assistant in her life. The said assistant was chirpy enough on the phone to his mate, but could hardly muster the energy to speak to her when she asked for his help. Am looking forward to prizing some words out of him when I return to exchange the pressie....

If you are going to re-overtake make sure you make it stick, otherwise just sit back and let them do the hard work.
Indeed. If a nodder feels they can go faster me, I'm only too keen to oblige and use their slipstream until they need to use their gears, at which point they select the wrong one then you buzz back past them.

Hey,
I've got an old Halo Aerotrack rim in black that'll be taking a trip to the bin, unless anyone on here wants it. It's been braked on, so paint is missing on braking surface, and there's minor wear to that section. However, the rim is perfectly fine, BUT for a few nipples that fell into the deep section bit when I was de-spoking it, but with a bit of patience you should be able to get them out!
