Don't get the tube. It's rubbish. You can smell what other people had for breakfast. You see tube rage where you don't see how it starts but you suddenly become aware of someone screaming "Take your stinking pit OUT OF MY FACE". For all the road rage and psycho skip lorry drivers it's still less stress to cycle than tube it.
And you always get a seat.

The best bit in summer is entering The City and the air is delicious and cool on your body in the canyons between the buildings, then fresh orange juice at Borough Market where they have a machine where the oranges come down a little chute and get squished so you get fresh cold juice WITH BITS IN. Worst, skip lorry drivers.

We have raised the issue of police discretion and proportionality at the Cycle Safety Working Group meetings with the police, particularly to do with the refusal of most police to enforce the same law against motorists who drive into ASL bike boxes. It is also extremely rare for any police to prosecute a motorist for being "just over the line".
A spokesperson told me that in the past three years City Police issued 12 fixed penalties to motorists for entering ASZs unlawfully.
Yet in the same period it handed out just over 6,000 fixed penalties to cyclists for jumping red lights.

Anecdotal evidence is that johnny law don't like issuing TS10s for motorists who ignore ASLs as it's "disproportionate".

Freemans is good. Proper old school bell-on-the-door and helpful friendly owner. He's just mended a puncture, straightened a wheel, done a full service and fitted a computer for £35.

I've no connection to Freemans. There used to be a bike shop on POW Road years ago, further up near Anglia TV.

New bike shop on Prince Of Wales Road:
http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/new_bike_shop_for_norwich_1_1692335
Velocity is set to officially open in Prince of Wales Road today.
Based in the former home of Multiyork furniture and Blazes fireplace and mantelpiece shop, the new bike shop stocks Forme mountain and road bikes, ranging in price from £269 to £5,000.
The shop is Howard Coles’ first venture into the retail industry.
The former property developer from Poringland, who is a keen cyclist, said: “Forme offered me a dealership and it was a great offer.
“It’s a really good location and cycling is a growth industry. It grew by 30 per cent last year and this year, it’s going to grow even more than that because of the Olympic Games. The success we had in the Olympics is going to make a big difference.”
Derbyshire-based Forme was founded by former professional cyclist Adam Biggs and created in early 2010 by distribution company Moore Large.

CHILLED TO THE BONE BY WEIRD CYCLIST VINCENT TABAK
Tabak killed Jo Yeates in Bristol. It's strange how Camilla phrased the headline that way, the fact Tabak rode a bike doesn't seem strictly essential to the story.

PERHAPS it is because my late mother had an affair with a cyclist
A cyclist shagged her dead mum?

Winding up cyclists is almost as much fun as winding up Scots.

Coppers with sniffer dogs used to mount checks at tube stations to catch people with blims or other naughtiness. They just confiscated my grass and didn't even issue a caution. I mean my mate. The cops treat it as a detected crime which boosts their stats and I was free to go about my business. I mean my mate was.
As far as I know Met and COLP aren't measured on traffic offences, it's not one of their rating factors, so it makes you wonder why they allocate resources this way.

09 November 2012
An actor and dancer who performed at the Olympics cultural festival has become the 12th cyclist to be killed in London this year.
Sofoklis Kostoulas, 31, from Bow, died in hospital eight days after being crushed beneath a lorry’s wheels.
The Greek national had appeared in the English National Ballet production of Like A Fish Out Of Water which was staged at the Uxbridge lido and at Hampton pool as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Mr Kostoulas came to London 18 months ago to pursue his dream of appearing on the British stage.
An English National Ballet spokeswoman said: “He was an absolute joy to work with and be around.”
Mr Kostoulas and the tipper truck collided in Bethnal Green Road as he cycled to work around 6.40am on October 29. He died in the Royal London Hospital on Tuesday.
His sisters and cousin said in a statement: “The grief we’re feeling cannot be described, written or transferred. We still can’t believe what happened. We still can’t think of our lives without Sofoklis in it.
“During these days we, his family and friends, were all optimistic that he would wake up so we could tell him what happened and show him the many messages of love and support written by his friends and relatives. I hope he left knowing by how many people and how much he was loved. I hope he left this life in serenity and peace.”
