The good thing is that the comment section is actually quite decent with them calling out the Fire Brigade for making such unnecessary comment.
yebbut it'll be different when the Mail cover this:

Caught my eye in the same paper:
A brothel running from a single bed flat above a Rose Hill shop was shut down by police yesterday.
Officers entered the flat to find two Brazilian women aged 33 and 40 at 4.30pm. One said she was married, the other was wearing a towel.
A pornographic film was playing on a TV in a bedroom where towels were laid out on the bed.
A man arrived at the flat shortly after the officers arrived. He claimed to be "just checking the tiles" and left promptly.

Odd reporting:
A cyclist has suffered life-changing injuries after he was knocked over by a 4x4 in a car park.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was severely burnt when he became trapped underneath the wheels of the Nissan Qashqai shortly before 7pm Friday, October 11, in the car park of Sainsbury's in Merton.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to help rescue the man, who had been burnt by the car’s catalytic converter and had major breathing difficulties.
Aided by the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, they were able to free the man in about 60 seconds.
A crew member said: “Due to the nature of his injuries, which are going to be life-changing, we had to quickly extricate the casualty from the vehicle.
“It took about 60 seconds. It was a really quick, really important extrication.”
Staff from Wimbledon Fire Station said cyclist safety has become an increasing problem.
The crew member added: “There is a big problem with cyclists at the moment generally.
“There are so many more cyclists on the roads that we have had a number of incidents ourselves with fire engines and recent months.
“What they do is tuck themselves between the 150mm gap of the curb and lorry and really get themselves into places they just should not be.
“They are not respecting the road are getting themselves into dangerous positions.
“If there is a small gap just stay back.”
150mm?

you feel responsible because you were looking after the other riders. you didn't do anything wrong, it was the thug driver. I dunno what those trucks are called but if I see a monster like that I stay well clear, I hang back, that driver came across CHILDREN on the same road as him and bullied them out of the way. Good work for phoning the company, you did the right thing, don't let them think they can get away with this shit.

When I was in Krakow last year, some Brit stags all had T shirts with a photo of the groom-to-be in a racing car, and every single T shirt had:
SIMON IN THE POLE POSITION
which is a joke that's humour content would have evaporated at the t shirt shop door, I'd have thought.
Krakow is brilliant, the people are lovely, the food is hearty and cheap, a beer's two quid even in the main Rynek, I was enjoying a beer there when Kristen Scott Thomas and family sat down! The Cloth Hall is a good museum now, Schindler's factory is also a museum about the occupation of Krakow, it had been empty and derelict for years, the first time I looked round it was just me, the security guard and a cat.
Kazimierz is lovely, just over the new bridge you can get to Podgorze (on the north bank of the river a gay bar has opened which seems to fascinate and repel Krakovians in equal measure) which is up-and-coming, nearby is the old camp and the house where Goth lived and shot prisoners from his balcony, Spielberg filmed there as well (even he wasn't allowed to film in Auschwitz.)
You can visit the Jagiellonian University and see Chopin's piano, but my favourite spot is Massolit books, a brilliant American-run second hand bookshop where you can get lovely muffins and coffee and have a good browse.

"Hopefully we will get a little housing boom and everyone will be happy as property values go up," the Chancellor reportedly told the cabinet.

cat's out of the bag. This is a pre-election bribe, plain and simple.

I'm back in my house now, it's been rented to (two!) students for years. There's a new landlord in the Belle Vue too, hopefully he'll get rid of the scummy chavs on charlie in there. The old landlord got so fed up he put passive/aggressive signs up in the toilet saying:
"This is the place to take A piss, not THE piss!"
-
I live in the Golden Triangle, there are loads of landlords that don't give a shit, the property is maintained but nobody bothers with the front gardens and hedges go mental, weeds everywhere. They also stuff three students in a two bed house, the downstairs front room becomes a bedroom. Get £700 a month that way.
