My mates just bought a track frame off ebay. It's supposedly Reynolds 531, has undrilled fork and has "Made in England" stamped on the bottom bracket (with a faint sn we think is 6864).

Has nice lugs and a cutout BB.
Anyone got a clue what it is?

Hi folks, been lurking on here for a while but only got around to signing up today.
I'm at uni in Camden, and wanted a bike to get to Gunnersbury twice a week for rowing. I also wanted a bit of a project over the summer (I grew up working on cars, so a bike seemed like a fun departure).
Bought this 1961 Raleigh from a car boot for £12:

Got it to London, ridden it for a while, new saddle arrived today:

White/blue fizik tundra, seems pretty comfy.

Still need to lower stem, lost my allen key set though. New pedals? Quite like the white though. Shiny double crankset. That said, I'm vaguely tempted to SS it...

Opinions/constructive criticism welcomed, it's my first build and my first road bike though so be gentle please!

Saddle doesnt work for me, needs a white Turbo or Rolls, a shiny seatpost and like you say, a pretty period correct shiny crankset. (white/chrome mudguard?) white platform pedals are nice i think.

Very nice restoration though.

I've lined (less intricate) lugs with a Posca paint marker before, looked way better than the example above.

some nice work on them spacerzzzz and stem. maybe they just didnt have a stem with more shallow angle?.. i sure hope this is the case

When you see this much apparently random alphanumeric in the path to a file, it usually means the file actually exists at some hidden location and is served as the output stream of a script taking the alphanumeric as a dynamically generated parameter to validate that the request has originated from an approved referrer. As a result, the path will not be valid at a later time, so you can't embed the file in some other web page.

The bottom of the chainstay looks dented, below and left of the frame builder's 'chainring dent'

That bike is a horrific mess... looks like 5 different bikes cobbled together... the frame and forks don't even make sense!

Cockpit set up and paint work certainly questionable but i love the f+f combo, looks beauty.
