Great! Actually, I can't make 6 tonight now, either, as yet something else has come up. So should we say next week?
Any other Easties in?
(We should probably put this up on the Easts thread, too.)
Yeah next week is far better. Work is killing me this week.
Think bleakreference will be up for it too.
Going to vegan drinkies tomorrow though. -

Aende road frame from the early 80s including Shimano bottom bracket (with bolts) and Campagnolo headset.
Spec is:
Seat tube (ctt): 21in (53cm)
Top tube (ctc): 21in (53cm)
Rear dropout width: 122mm
Wheel size: 700C with brake drop of 45mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Drilled for recessed brake fittings. This is built with really nice club cutout lugs and a BB shell cutout. It obviously needs a respray but no dings or dents and once restored it will look quite awesome. I was going to do it myself, but I got drunk and accidentally bought a full bike so this project was cancelled.
I’m not sure of the tubing – could be Reynolds or Columbus as Aende used both, but it weighs 2.9kg with headset and bottom bracket and takes a 27.2 seatpost so it is decent tubing.
Headset needs a grease.
£80 - SOLD
Pick up Stoke Newington.

I think the consideration/compliance issue is very interesting. I've just come back from Indonesia where as one might expect there is far less adherance to rules of the road (if any), but this seems to have an effect in making people have a bit more initiative and anticipation of what is likely to happen. I wouldnt exactly call it consideration as the key to driving there is assertiveness, but there does seem more anticipation and accommodation of the actions of other road users.
I think when you get too rule bound, it takes something away from your sense of responsibility, while reinforcing certain perceived rights. Like yesterday I was waiting at some lights next to a moped. When they changed, he shot off, despite a clear view of a ped who was crossing about 30ft away. The ped had to fling himself out of the way to avoid being hit as the moped rider was clearly of the view that he had full rights to that bit of road and anyone else had better get out of the way. Asserting perceived priority even at the risk of a collision. I think there are some people who really are prepared to have an accident to prove their point.
While it was bonkers in Indonesia, there did seem to be more ability to accommodate the actions of other road users and less aggression. People hit the horn all the time, but its a lot more about warning of their presence, rather than expressions of anger at one's sense of entitlement being infringed.
I imagine the national accident stats aren't pretty, but I think there are some points one can take away from that style of road use. (for example god help you if you cycle in Jakarta)
