Phoned the police and finally got through to their crime mangement system and the person reading my report states that there wasn't any CCTV in the area of convent gardens and they have been contacting me since 27th of July to update (or lack of) on my bike....
Right...so no cctv outside the Royal Opera House? .
They probably mean no public cctv - there may be private companies' cctv there - have you had a look round? Companies arent obliged to hand over footage i think but you may be able to persuade them. You have to do the leg work for the cops on this sort of stuff.

Here we have an unusual splatter-painted silver and black frame branded as Zanchetta, which gives maximum obscurity points, and is probably the kind of thing you'd love or hate. The paint is in very good condition with only a few small blemishes. I'm not sure of the tubing but it is a lightweight steel with Nervex lugs, most likely from the 70s or 80s. It appears to be made in France, although it takes an English threaded bottom bracket.
Measurements are
Top tube (ctc) 55cm
Seat tube (ctc) 53cm
Rear hub spacing 124mmIt comes with a very smooth bottom bracket which I added when I got it, and headset (which could use a greasing) is also included
It takes nutted brake callipers and has eyelets for mudguards.
Nice long dropouts for single speed usage, or would it make a nice retro racer - the brake guide on the rear stays would lend itself to centre-pulls.£100 SOLD
Pick up in Stoke Newington (N16) evenings or weekends. First with money gets it. I'll post if there's no interest in pickup, but it's a bit of a faff.

^^ I don't see any problem with giving it some beans on the commute on stretches where you're not risking a collision. However, quite a bit I see cyclists acting like many drivers and not accommodating likely actions of other road users and pedestrians thus their speed is unsafe. "My road and you'd better get out the way".
Probabaly more prevalent on some routes more than others... -

Exactly the same happened in Cambridge Heath Road a few days ago; cable lock cleanly cut.
cable locks may as well be made out of licorice laces, utter waste of time
In all fairness, thats what happens when you own a brooks
Cable lock means that you may be able to stop someone with a multi-tool alone. There's not much else you can do other than a bike chain (still breakable).
So what's the best way to secure a saddle to a frame? I've only used cable locks or bike chains... Didn't realise people were cutting locks to get at them to this extent. I guess if you have a brooks you need to take it with you. Jeez.

I think helmet cams can just be a kind of on board recording so that if something happens, you are less reliant on being on the ball (esp if injured) to get the details of the incident, which can help you help others if something befalls them as well. I've decided to have the Contour running on my commutes after getting taken out in a hit and run back in February, and running on out of town rides just to capture the moment of awesome rides. The hit and run fucker never got caught as I couldnt get the reg as my glasses were knocked off (another lesson learned about never riding in glasses!)
And one day, if I am at an amazingly loose end, there will be a compendium of crap cycling clips that have been captured... -

So really would suit someone with long top half. Or stick some north road bars on it if the reach would be too much with drops.
