Ok so I've cleaned the inside of the seat post with white spirit but the seat post still won't go in.
I've measured the tube and the post - both are 27.2 mm. It looks like the problem is that the top part of the seat tube is slightly mishappen - maybe by 0.1mm.
My options seem to be get a 27.0mm seat post, get LBS to ream the tube or try and file away at the tube until the post goes in (tried this a bit but does not seem to be helping much). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
Don't know if this is kosher, but I had the same problem. I used a file on the end of my seat post to make it into a more gradual slope, so it was a bit thinner to begin with. then with grease and muscles twisted it in...
after that first effort it now goes in and out fine.

I'd rather be keeping a sensible distance from the inside of a car and be aware of what is behind me so that if a car does swerve, none of the above happens.
I don't know if things are any different in the big smoke but on my commute into leeds that is not often a possibility - what with cars parked in, pulling over into or driving in cycle lanes, or driving 2 up on a single carriage way. it's either over take, on the pavement, or wait and travel at the speed of the (5 mile long) traffic jam - what would be the point in cycling then?
-
Riding on the pavement is for cunts and paedos. Fact.
Car drifts over your way - you either slam on the brakes , risking causing a collision from behind, crash into the car (who's gonna win that one?), crash into the kerb and come off or think fast and hop up the kerb.
So you'd rather get knocked off?

You'd likely struggle with crank arm/chainstay clearance, with a MTN frame/ track crank set-up anyway.
Bollocks. Do something insane to anger the bike goods, like mix Campag and Shimano, and your toes will fall off in your sleep. Fact!
I have done this, on a 1950s hetchins curly as well - does this mean I'm going to hell?

How fit is that, i mean really!? doesn't look like a grands worth at all does it... more like 3!
plus on the ribble site you can choose finishing kit sizes, ratios and coloured tyres to suit, do many manufacturers do that?

I have taken to now cycling around any car stopped in the area, pulling up in front of them and deliberately putting a foot down, then taking my time setting off, getting foot in and crawl away from the line - couple of beeps so far, which result in an even more leisurely pace - 1 - nil ! wankers - that's not a taxi painted in white on the red there you know!

i want that one...
