My completely arbitrary markers were
3 weeks I cut a desk top out from ply and was absolutely spent afterwards - sofa bound after
4 weeks I walked up the stairs in waterstones and and could feel my heart really thumping but not out of breath
6 weeks I walked up a munro and felt 95% a little tight chested -
I wish I had known about door blanks last weekend. I'm 90% of the way through making a hollow door covered in thin ply, it's worked relatively well so far but is very slightly bowed.
I think you should spend £60 extra on the door, I don't think it would be particularly time efficient to build it back up to a high standard. I'd have a go with a drill and chisel because most of the roughness will be hidden with the lock or hinges.

A few years ago my girlfriend gave me this which was her hoarding grandfathers. At the time she saw it as a bit of a joke as it was so grubby and had a mind of its own, it stopped working after about 8 months. I hadn't found a shop that was interested in looking at it and was a little worried about taking it apart myself. So eventually I got the tools together, took it apart, replaced a couple of clips and did a bit of metal bending and it's back working. Has a touch screen calculator too, which is also now functioning!

We have a little courtyard back garden with a communal drain shared between 4 houses and we are the furthest away from the sewer. The trap at the sewer end was blocked with fat so our shared part was filling up with water. Scottish water came and sorted it, but in doing so dislodged more fat and unknowingly blocked it.
A couple of weeks later we had torrential rain and the back garden was 6 inches deep with water, running through the air bricks - I was quite glad we had the drain unblocking attachment!

"Is a Machine Screw a Bolt?
The exact difference between machine screws and bolts is not always clear, particularly as their appearance is similar. However, machine screws are typically smaller than bolts, although a more precise distinction is the way that they are tightened in a tapped hole.Bolts tend to be driven home and then tightened fully by turning the nut on the rear side of the fastening. With machine screws, the majority of tightening force (torque) is applied to the head of the screw itself when driving it into a tapped hole.
A further dissimilarity for bolts vs machine screws is that while all machine screws can be effectively used as a type of bolt, the same is not necessarily true in reverse. In other words, not all bolts can perform the full range of functions as a machine screw."
I don't know what an example of the last paragraph is, but I think what you're talking about is a machine screw. But I think most people wouldn't know what you were talking about referring to them as machine screws :)

I got my girlfriend one from https://bluntumbrellas.co.uk/ through Amazon and it was about £35. It's survived the wind and rain in Edinburgh and looks almost new after a few years
