it is not much. 5mm at the most... so I just squeezed them in there. I asked my local bike guru, if that could be a problem and he said that would be finde. two winters of hard riding and it held up like a tank.
same with the stem. I don't remember it being a problem at all... some grease and you will be good to go!
I wish I had more pictures of it left, since it went through a couple of stages. slightly bigger tires and different stem/bar option.
ahhhh. I miss my Ms. Russia.

that is how mine used to look... Used as the winter beater and really loved it. I squeezed a lot of life out the old headset by simply cleaning and re-greasing it.
I still think they are fairly pretty, and if I would have ever gotten around to building it up properly, not from spares, than I might have kept it...
have fun with yours...

I do ride much, but I am certainly no pro...
All I want is a black crankset, since these silver ones just don't work. which one it will be in the ends depends on availability and price. but since I need to also change other stuff on the bike, this won't hapen tomorrow. for now this thing is rolling and I really like the way it rides.

made some changes again. new saddle, bigger tyros, new pedals, different stem and riser, new and quieter chain and a front brake for freedom's sake (I can't financially afford another summer without one)...
straps are ordered and I desperatly need new cranks (Black 75s or omniums) and the front wheel will change from radial to 3x. but all in due time...

I had mine set up just like that. short stem, wide bars. I cut them down for the city though, since they bothered me more than helped...
I am happy with the stock fork as well, but they are not the prettiest, so I always like to keep my eyes open for a decent replacement.
