As the title says,
I am looking to trade 165mm track cranks for a pair of 170mm or possibly 172.5mm as one of our new members is a bit tall for 165 cranks on the track bike.
I would prefer Dura Ace Octalink or Sugino 75's and can swap you what ever you prefer.
I can let you see the crank pictures so as you can decide on a condition match.
PM me if you can help

We know Meadowbank will be going for an other three summers but it's so unpredictable with the weather and although the track is in good shape the infrastructure is really delapidated.
Once NISA is open in October we will be making the 40 min trip through in the team bus for warm dry indoor training , so I envisage a load of new riders using our new bikes.
Also our association has not bought a new track bike since these ones 31 years ago !
-
That's the dilemma I have ,
I need enough cash to replace the bikes with machines that will look good in the eyes of fashion casualty kids on the new NISA /SCH velodrome.
I don't want to really rip any one off or get in to a email dispute over the sale, and I would like the frames to go to folk that would appreciate them for what they are .
I have one that I was given by one of our club founders and will be riding it in Glasgow as I think the connection with the history of track racing in Scotland is significant, well for me any way .

I'll be back up in Edinburgh for Christmas, are there any open-day type things when I could ride the Meadowbank track?
The track is unusable during the winter, It gets a safety checked and "DE-MOSSED" in late march and is available then right through till the weather closes in around the end of September. I will be running accreditation and club sessions most weeks through the season so if you are coming up to Edinburgh pm me and we can fit you in to a session.

Yes, these Raleighs are the East of Scotland cycling association track bikes:
I am the ESCA track secretary and am looking at the viability of modernising the bikes we to give youngsters that are coming to the track, these kids don't seem to appreciate the history in the bikes. They want one that looks like the ones the BC riders use. When Chris was using one of these bikes, we told him if it was good enough for Gordon Singleton to win the world championships , it was good enough for him !

Here is a bit of the history :*"In August 1980 Brian Annable negotiated an agreement with Gerald O Donovan of Raleigh Cycles to supply 11 track bikes to the Council for a special price of £3300. The Council also agreed to fund the provision of track lighting by ESCA, and to donate £700 for ESCA to recondition the Carltons that were supplied when the track opened in 1970.
BA reached an agreement between ESCA and CEC that ESCA would become responsible for ownership, deployment, maintenance, and safety in use of the track machines, and CEC would fund the purchase of components needing replacement." *regards Allister

As the title says this is a shameless fishing expedition being posted here rather than in the for sale section where I would probably get a roasting at the very least !
Let me explain,
I may possibly have a number of 1980 vintage TI Raleigh track frames for sale in sizes from 50cm to 60cm.
They came directly from Gerald O Donovan and have been used and perhaps a little neglected over the past 31 years with fading paint and the odd scrape here and there.
I would like to replace them with modern alloy track frames, probably Dolan Precursa's or Track Champions frames / bikes.
I have a limited budget to get the new bikes up and running and have been asked to look at the potential to sell these frames to finance the purchase of the new ones.
The question is how much could I reasonable ask or expect for these frames ?
I would rather not go on the "bay" as the overheads and general nonsense that some times happens with sales can be very time consuming and irritating so near Christmas.
The frames look like this :
21' Raleigh 531C Track frame and forks , Cinelli cast bottom bracket shell and Prugnat long point lugs, Double plate fork crown and Campagnolo record headset. Still has the G.O.D. decal on the seat tube !
Rides as well as any of the modern bikes on a steep board track.
Opinions and constructive criticism are most welcome as forum postings or PM's
Thanks Allister

Junoface,
check the bearing housing carefully for small cracks in the plastic around the bearings.
We bought a batch of these rollers and some of the sprinters ( 80kg + ) had a problem with them being very noisy after very little use and it turned out that the problem was the bearing housing cracking, the bearings were fine at least until the alignment of the roller bearings was well out then they got rough pretty quickly .
Have you got the receipt ?

Hi Baz,
as you have the drilled Dolan carbon road forks , a short drop caliper is the thing you need.
I have used Shimano ultegra, 105 and D.A. as they are all the same dimensions, campag brakes don't have the adjustor on the stirrups now but it's on the lever so that's a bit trickier.
Any lever for drop bars will do as will a small BMX one on the top of drop bars or a TT aero one in the bar end.
If you are stuck PM me as there are a load of bits that would suit in the parts bin.

Had a good look in the cupboard and there are a pair of Ridgida Club 23mm alloy sprint rims that have been used on the track and are now used for stretching tyres. In pretty good condition no dents or bashes . They would be suitable for road use with a braking surface.
The other 36's are as I thought Wolber profile 20's , really no good as a road rim with Gaitorskins :-(

I some times get confused with the rules..... no asking for offers, no selling in trade forum ect
so they are here :
http://www.lfgss.com/thread74955.html
Lovely hubs, I probably have some 36 hole NOS tubular rims and spokes if you wanted a wheel set. No 36 clincher / HP rims though ....

Having tried in van to swap these for 28 or 32 hole hubs ,
I am now reluctantly offering them for sale.

These hubs are in original box, the front one is new and unused the rear has been laced in to a rim and used on the velodrome
intermittently for 2 months and has slight marking around the spoke holes.I am asking for £125 including UK postage , but would still swap for a pair of 28's !
Some more snaps here :

Please PM me if you need any more info.

Well there was never any problem with the track, there is a magical joiner called Tosh who looks after the track and keeps the racing surface in tip top condition as well as the underside !

The problems were with access by the council who designated the structure as a high fire risk environment and imposed some crazy operating procedures in the way that you would categorize a theater or cinema.
At one point no one was allowed to be more than 15m from the exit tunnel when they were in the track center !
Most of it has been sorted out no with a liberal application of common sense and compromise.
We just have to get the weather sorted out and wait for Glasgow velodrome to open next summer so we can race all year !
That's a great idea,
I will do the sums and work out how much it would take to get each Raleigh "transformed" in to a modern bike by the time I use the existing chain set, saddle sprocket and chain.
The wheels are either missing or are well past their best.
I will add in bars, stem and wheels to the equation, then using the maintainance cash I have will work out the cost to change and make that the reserve price for that frame.
If the committee approve, then I will do the photo's for each frame a load them to the picassa site then ask **Velocio to **start one thread per frame and take it from there.
If there is cash left over once the deals are done, it can go in to race wheels or some thing similar.
