Has anyone ridden the TLI road races at North Weald Air field? Whats the format? How long are they? 4 left this year and i'm tempted to give them a go.

i'd recommend you e-mail Miche or the shop you bought the wheels from to be sure what freehub you need. Planet X are usually quite helpful.
the only reason why mix'n'match wouldn't work is if the spacing between cogs on campag 8speed and shimano 8speed cassettes is different. I'm sure you could find out if they are the same with a bit of google. maybe try sheldon browns website.

you'll need to buy something like this, the exact make and model depends on the hub you have.
You might also be able to make it work by putting an 8 speed campag cassette and chain on. I used a 9 speed shimano cassette and chain on a 9 speed campag bike for years - it worked fine because the cassette and chain matched and the spacing in the cassette was the same.

You need to have properly cleaned it, measured it, greased it and be sure that the post is the right size. If you fit a post slightly too big or too small you risk damage to the frame or the threads on the seat post bolt.
But a first word of caution would be that if you can barely get it into the frame you need to ask yourself if your going to get it out again...

presumably the carbon ones are tubs so they are likely more expensive when you puncture. If they have carbon braking surface which (even with expensive brake blocks like swisstop yellow's) will have poorer braking than the aluminium rim. I'd not want to commute on carbon rims for these reasons.
My commute is a similar distance and by far the biggest thing which slows me down is the traffic. I use 32 spoke traditional wheels which are stiff and have light open pro rims so they spin up quickly after traffic lights etc.

The times are sending out e-mails asking people to invite their MP to the next Parliamentary debate on cycling safety. You can send an e-mail to your MP here:
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/cyclesafety/pledge/
This is the text of my message incase you want to adapt it. Its just a quick message i'm sure it can be improved...
Dear YOUR MP,
Please attend the Get Britain Cycling debate on Monday, September 2.
3 cyclists have been killed in 3 weeks in central London and more deaths and injuries have occurred across the UK in the same time period. Almost 10 people per day are killed on UK roads and although this number is coming down, the proportion of serious injuries involving more vulnerable road users is rising.
A recent holiday in Denmark has shown me just how wonderful, enjoyable and safe both rural and urban cycling can be. In this country we need politicians to lead the way in achieving parity on cycling safety. So please attend the debate and speak up for cyclists and help remove the dangers posed by traffic, lorries and the unsafe road designs we are stuck with in the UK.
Yours sincerely,
YOU

Pedal reflectors have always been the law, for donkeys years. Have they suddenly started enforcing it?
I use these on my bike in the winter. I don't want to be hit by a car and have my lack of legal reflectors damage my chances of a claim.
Sadly they only fit double sided spd pedals but there do seem to be a variety of options here.

So, it's better to ride a bit harder into the headwind to get it done quicker, even if you ride the easier, tailwind section slower.
thanks hippy/danb, its interesting. i definitely try to do what your suggesting when i race but I just wondered if it was always the best tactic. it didn't seem totally obvious that the the same tactic was going to be best for all conditions, but maybe it is.

I don't have many tips for you but I am impressed by this fella's FC Barcelona skinsuit: http://www.sisportsimages.co.uk/GalleriesCycling2013/GloucesterCityCC10m%20TT/slides/SIS_8035.html
