I'm not sure we did meet, my user name is misleading (Really i'm Aidan not Dan) sorry for the confusion.
Anyway - the prospect of running joint events with Lea Valley sounds very interesting.
Its your 2-up this week I think. I was meaning to enter but didn't get around to it, instead i've promised to lead our fast club run, which should be equally painful.

Your right, race organising is hard to get into!
I've been half heartedly trying to put on a Club time trial for the last six months. Its a maze of rules and regulations with the ever looming danger of liability and risk assessments. I can't imagine the stress of putting on a road race.
Some way of teaming up old and new organisers would seem like a good idea.
If anyone wants to put on a race and have the know how, there are people at islington cc (my club) who are willing to learn and help but don't have any experience.

Depend on your attachment to the bike.
Speak to a framebuilder about 'restoring' the bike to how you want it to be, and figure out whether it's worth pouring money in it, or purchase a new frame.
I'm very attached, but i'm not made of money. Thats why I'm deliberating. I've replaced it with a 2nd hand condor i got super cheap for the time being but i don't have room in my flat for a useless frame to just be sitting around.

My Graham Weigh (Reynolds 531) frame snapped the other day. Its 15 years old and heavily used. The threads are damaged/stripped on lots of the braze-ons, its been resprayed once but the paint is in bad shape again. There is much rust.
How do you decide when a frame isn't worth repairing/restoring anymore?

I got mine from bike-discount.com who have lots to choose from:
http://www.bike-discount.de/?ac=pddetails&pdid=70819It's virtually brand new after a warranty replacement and i'm considering parting with it as its not a great fit on my new frame.

He's very funny, basically lectures at you for an hour through a fog of sarcasm and exaggerated distain for everything.
Sometimes when you watch documentaries on subject you know well they are limited and over simplified. I'm not an expert on this so maybe i'm not best placed to say but it seems to be better informed than a lot of BBC docs. I don't agree with everything he says in it but its well worth watching.

On the iPlayer at the moment:
Bunkers, Brutalism and Bloodymindedness: Concrete Poetry with Jonathan Meades
Very entertaining, moderately controversial brutalist architecture documentary.
