Ta all.
I've already spoken to Alej. All is awesome with Hija, he has a great relationship with Marino and works him extra hard.
I'm talking about finding someone to build custom frames in Melbourne for the bike shop I'm at. I think he's about 50/50 with his builds but the last one was so bad and he basically said tough shit. Minor imperfections happen, and I'm sure he's right about having a margin or error, but when you can't run a brake that has to be outside what's acceptable.I gathered the Mielecs weren't too close to the specified geo?

So it anyone still using Marino?
We've had some shocking builds from them to the point where the seat stay is so far out we couldn't set up V brakes. They replied saying it's within the acceptable amount of error and are ignoring emails.
Anyone had and good or bad builds? Just want to know whether to give up on them entirely or if they've improved. -

it has to be robust enough to get me through rain, sleet and snow...
Then disk brakes are definitely the go. I really like them and would go bb7s over anything for an all rounder bike.
Just my preference though.
Mechanical brakes could be a ball ache, rim brakes are not great in adverse weather, disk brakes are easy to adjust, well the bb7's are.
A lot has changed since the above was written and the Avids are now far superior to the Deores.
bb7's ftw, and make sure you have the correct pull levers. And Hai Corney!

Almost Rep'd Gabes but didn't for not replying to me a while ago.Ryan's bikes are getting better and better. Amazing. I see the forks are getting thinner and the BB Shell's are getting wider?
And is the trend back to 120 OLD? -

And here it is again!
Nik is offering private mechanic lessons for anyone who wants to learn any level of bike mechanics.
There is no fixed price, just donate what you think it's worth.
Perhaps there's a few of you who would like to get together for a group lesson, or if you have a stuck seatpost like Clefty before, anything you would like help with or just wanted to learn. This isn't exclusive to women either btw.
She doesn't have a lot of time to check the forum so maybe register your interest on here and we'll put you in touch.
This is a fundraiser once again.

Ah, I don't want it back then.
