she's the main bread winner but will be the one to quit her job.
If her husband works, even at the average UK wage, they've got a combined income of 120k, and they don't live in London.
I don't expect to see a significant change in the number of kids attending private schools next year as a result of this.
How will it work - will private schools stop pretending to be charities from now on?

Agree. I like the way that the milkshake is on its way to becoming a symbol of resistance against fascists.
It's childish, annoys them and makes them look pathetic when moaning about the damage it does to them.
It was great sport the other year when Yaxley-Lennon kept getting hit by them. I'd like to see more of it

It's not worth interrogating too closely, because it's a lie (although it is quite fun) - that he came back to do a TV interview is probably the most plausible excuse.
If he did plan previously plan to come back early, I'm not sure what he would have been doing instead that was so important, as he obviously also hasn't actually done that thing.

Don't know if this is useful, but if it's a party wall, they have to make sure that the wall is constructed in the existing material (not sure if this is just your side or theirs as well).
Our neighbours were extending their kitchen, which included a party wall made of London yellow bricks and visible in our garden.
Their builder wanted to just do it in crappy bricks as it would only be us that saw it, so cheaper for his clients. The party wall surveyor made it clear that since the wall was there already, the whole (extended) thing would have to be made of the same material it is already made of.
Don't know if that's useful, but in any case insist on a full independent party wall surveyor (that they'll have to pay for) before anythings done.

she sees votes in these absurd culture wars
She can't see votes in it - the chart above suggests no one cares so presumably the data where there's votes available to her over it doesn't exist. Even if the data for that chart was out wildly, +/- 500%, still no one would care.
It's got to be a personal view? Or a projection of herself onto what she thinks people are like?

It's a criminal case I believe, rather than a civil one. I think he'd been found guilty of civil fraud cases recently as well though.
but if it was a candidate I already supported
I guess there's a hope that swing voters, or ones who hadn't decided (I don't understand how that's a thing in this election) would favour voting for a candidate who isn't a criminal.

Thanks all for the answers! Really valuable.
It'll be for commuting / shopping / pottering, but we live quite close to Richmond park and go there occasionally for a lesiurely ride. I wanted to check that it would literally be geared to get up the hills there, I'd hazard that if you can ride the Lakes on one it'll be able to manage it (great pictures @C4r1s). It's probably not a deal breaker as the commuting alone is enough of a use case to justify getting one.
By only bike, I meant that it could be a replacement for the touring bike that she currently rides, which it sounds like it can be.
Thanks again!

I imagine this is a really stupid question, but my wife's about to pull the trigger on a Brompton (for obvious commuting reasons), but wanted to know whether they'd be suitable as an only bike? I know nothing about them - I imagine the worst that'd get thrown at it would be the odd ride around Richmond - is the gearing on the six speed suitable for a comfortable ride around there?

I thought they started to reel back on it yesterday(no prison, not mandatory, not necessarily military), but maybe they've changed their minds overnight...
Are they now trying to alienate the adults as well as the children? They're firmly aiming at the grandparent generation? I can't think of anything else where I'd be punished for something my adult children do and it seems an unusual thing to try to sell to people.

I find that sentiment difficult to believe, or at least believe there's been creativity in questioning / presentation. There's no way more 18-25 year olds would rather serve in the army than not.
Yougov has a poll from 2023 which is much more against the idea. Accept that yougov has the word 'military' in the question, which may be significant.

Brilliant - I've contacted them and red removals from @Greenbank - thanks both

All this news is telling us is that they had a policy brainstorm
But why are they still brainstorming ideas for an election that they knew was coming in six months? I don't care, but it just speaks volumes to their incompetence.
Even the worst project manager at work would have had the campaign 90% mapped out, ready to hit go once someone called it.

I thought it was a spad or some non elected position, but he's actually a sitting MP.
Even if he somehow manages to cling onto his seat he'll presumably lose it shortly after the election in any investigation into this.
