I have just about enough space on the dropout to be able to flip the rear wheel mid-ride. But, to be honest, I normally swap between two different length chains as the axle sits better in the dropout, especially if I'm riding something like the Reiver where I know I won't be flipping the wheel.

You should be fine to cycle through any wind farm in Scotland if access rights is what you’re concerned about?

Can’t say I’ve ever come across a wind farm with more than a chest high gate at the entrance (with about 100 padlocks on it).

The heatmap on RideWithGPS (and probably other route plotting websites) is pretty good for seeing how many people have cycled a certain way.

And used it shall be! My camera has moved from “precious object” to “tool.”

I've just ordered a Rille stabilising strap so I can take my X-T4 out on the bike with me (I've finally stopped being overly precious of the camera after getting a few scratches/marks on it).

I'll be using it with my Peak Design strap so will report back how I get on with it if anyone is interested.

Haha! Yeah was constantly looking back as it was a narrow path and a fairly rapid descent.

I battered up a hill near Stobo yesterday to go see if I could see any riders. Saw Angus and had a quick chat. Took about 2 hours to get back down the hill following the route and no one else passed me.

Agreed there is some better stuff for general touring.

However, I think with a racing route there has to be some level of accessibility for riders of different abilities, especially with the format of the race, which is why there are some bits some may consider boring, long sections of road etc

I did an audax called A Highland Fling that went from Edinburgh down to South Shields. I don’t really remember much of that stretch, but my friend was riding fixed so couldn’t have been too stinky (we did go up The Rigg, though).
