It’s silver birch. You’re right sanding is the key. Patience isn’t something I have in abundance, but it’s a really nice process

Afternoon all

I saw this thread and thought great idea. I’ve got some wood I chopped recently and plenty of time on my hands so had a go.

It’s so nice just sat in the sun chipping away. My attempt is a butter knife which I have tested and it butters good.

Only minor annoyance is that one side was nicely whittle away at. The other side the wood was very fibrey and stringy.

I really wanted a full plot because half just doesn’t seem big enough. However our allotment seem to be phasing our full plots.

It has been known that if a plot becomes neglected they will then allow you have a second plot. Annoyingly the one directly behind ours isn’t neglected, it’s just barely used.

Can anyone recommend a stylish sun hat. I’ll be on my allotment a lot this summer so I think a hat is essential

Went to our plot yesterday and spent about an hour tidying followed by 2 hours rotovating 200-300 of well rotted horse poop into the nasty clay soil.

This morning I planted some potatoes there and hopefully will plant some more onions and beetroot this week

I’m ready for a new just not sure what breed:

I’m at work 9-5

But have a big walk morning and night and all weekend
