BDW - it will depend on the rim. I can't see a rim+spokes coming in under the SJS price though. Maybe it's time to liberate the orange aerospoke parked at work...

Yea, they're the same sort of price but I'd definitely need new spokes as well. Probably 10mm shorter. A few nipples would be amazing though. I'm moving house in 10 days so I'm broke what with deposits and all.

He managed to get it so that it actually rolled with only the tiniest bit of rub. Some of the spokes are holding zero tension though, so it got me home but it's obliterated. It's on a 32h Surly hub so I might as well keep that and it looks like a CXP22 would be able to use the same spokes.. I just need a rim and a couple of nipples to replace the ones that were split.

CXP22 is £24 for a black one from SJS.

I'm going to go for that and build it up unless anyone has any alternatives that are cheaper and not made of paper.

... I would much rather have a ref make the calls, than get into a shouting match with the other team, or simply concede to a bunch of cheats, because I cant be bothered to argue (both of these happened to me in the last league).

In the previous league we had some really rough and nasty play, so bad in fact that some people have never returned to play polo since.

To combat this, you need a ref and they need to have authority. Yes, ideally players would be able to sort it out themselves but when it comes to competition people have very different ideas about what is acceptable in pursuit of 3 points. As Gabes says, players can sort out what is/isn't a goal fairly well but dealing with sneaky mallets under the front wheel? It's not in my nature to get really confrontational about something like that but I'd appreciate it if someone was there to do it on my behalf and they weren't afraid to call it because 'players should be able to take care of themselves.'

Picked mine up last night. They seem very solid and well made. Incredibly easy to install and adjust. More in depth report after polo tonight.

I know what you mean but I don't have anything that would help. I assume the bolt isn't long enough to just get a nut/washer and secure it without the allen nut?
