right you shit bags! ive used rim tape and it works a treat. i suppose we arnt born with this knowledge and you have to learn somehow. concerning rim tape moving round the rim. just stick the valve through the valve hole and it holds it in place.
anyhow thanks for all the helpful information and sympathetic comments/images. I love this forum its such a great resource for unhelpful bullshit!
word to all your mothers.

i have gone through 4 inner tubes now on my new H+sons rims and still have no tire on the bloody thing.
after the first blow out i took extra special care in making sure there was no pinches. but again, BANG. it looks like they are going on the spoke holes. so im gonna try some rim tape. how ever i never had to do this on my velocity deep Vs.Has anyone else had these problems?
im fitting Vittoria zaffino tires and using specialized 700c 20/28 long valve inner tubes.
rim tape and then hope!

i havent had this problem but i have gone through 4 inner tubes and still have no tire on my new rims. it sounds like im using the same tubes as you. i think i need some rim tape as it looks like it is popping on the spoke holes. its a bitch though. i managed to get the last one on pumped it up to 80 psi, left it for ten minutes and then when i was starting the front tire.... bang the rear blew out.
most annoying couple of hours i have ever had.
rim tape then professional help just to fit a tire!
i feel like a pleb.

cheers guys that helps! your right, im loving this fixed gear malarky. its brilliant. its like that feeling you got when you first learnt to ride, all over again.
just been out practising me track stands and skids. skids are quite hard on the knees but track stands are well satisfying!
thanks again!
