Quick bit of research while I'm supposed to be doing boring uni work, proves that there are two models, one track and one road, but the track did have variations in degree. Heres a quote from Hilary Stone
"Three basic stem designs were offered: road with 73 degree angle between quill and extension, the no 2 track stem with a 65 degree angle giving a slightly steeper drop, and the no 3 track stem, sometimes referred to as Sacchi in the 1950s and later called the Sprint, with a 58 degree angle and a very steep drop."
Ive folded a piece of paper to a 45' angle. Then folded it to the angle where it matches the stem and at the ctc distance of 10cm it is 25mm from the 45' fold
If anyone could make any sense out of that, could they work out the angle for me please? I would presume its the sprint version judging by eye?
Used to be kinda good at doing origami penguins I'll have you know..http://www.giladorigami.com/P_Penguin_Kasahara_Mundo.JPG
From bike pron, this is missing version 2 but still a good read.

Got a little package from spain today, managed to get take a few photos while the sun was out for once.
All was good until I realised the stem clamp was slightly deformed, but for the price I'm not complaining (you wouldn't believe how much I paid if I told you, kicking myself for not getting two). Got it round again by sticking it on some old bars and clamping it super tight and leaving it for a while. Im not %100 sure if its the track version or road? As I cant think of anyway to measure the angle, my maths kit got thrown outta the window as soon as I left school.
And heres a little suttin' until next time. -

Nice project!
One thing i'd say if you're planning on riding this a lot (and you probably already know this but if you don't...) is steel rims+rain=no stopping. Doesn't matter how good your brakes are, you'll be forced to skid which if it's wet isn't ideal either.
i like zeus stuff, drilled bars and rings will look sexy too.
Thanks! I already got my daily ride, this would be the sunday best/track ride. I would like to hope this never sees rain but I think thats asking a bit much, especially in this country. The drillium thing I like but not when the wholes things been covered in holes, sometimes it looks a bit tacky. I would like to try an get a pattern on the bars and maybe a few holes on the rings, Im quite skinny so not too worried about them failing but would have to be properly thought and planned out.

This sounds like a great project, and it's nice to see someone thinking outside of the usual campag box and going for full ZUES!
Follow through and it will look stellar. Subbed
preciosa la bici! Pinta genial el proyecto.
Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah the whole Campagnolo thing is a bit much for me, I like the fact they are spanish and actually equally or even sometimes better than campy. I got that 'poor mans campagnolo' quote from a old thread on some website but I've seen it mentioned a few times. Im hoping to spend the bare minimum on pieces, I'd rather pay less an refurbish them myself than pay silly nos ebay prices.

After taking off some of the paint to check for serial numbers etc. I decided to try and get rid of the orange paint and try an keep as much of the original blue as possible.. I realised it was going to be a lot harder than I thought but after a few weeks i got it looking like this
I noticed that where the seatbolt clamps on was slightly deformed and would need to be closed up a bit. Might need to get it professionally done as Thats the last place I would like the steel to fail.
The forks are quite pitted and look like they have been used a fair bit but look strong and straight. Will prob keep them like that as getting them done at London Chroming isn't within my budget atm.
Heres a list of parts that im looking to acquire or already have.
Stem - Cinelli Milano (in the post atm from spain)
Handlebars - Cinelli Criterium (bought of the forum)
Seatpost -
Cranks - Zeus Pista
Pedals - Zeus Pista, preferable the chromed version
Got some Ducson made in spain toeclips from the ebay a good while back but they are still available with free postage worldwideHubs & Cogs - Zeus Pista
Really want to keep it as close to the original and spanish as possible so that means getting some Akront rims. Not sure about what other spokes I could use, so if anyone has any ideas then please let me know.

Wassup Y’all.
Here is the start of my first properly documented build, I always seem to forget and regret not doing one after I finish. I find there’s loads of good reads on, such as Kal_xyo’s in-depth Bennoto, build, and this has inspired me to try and do the same to a similar level of detail. I’m not the most patient person and find that this build is helping/making it worse (I tend to buy too much unnecessary stuff of fleabay because its cheap, then regretting it later) but I definitely won’t give in. My inner most secret about lfg is to have my bike in the porn section;-) But would really like to start training when Herne Hill opens back up next year.
I bought the frame this spring for an early 21st birthday present. At first I thought it was definitely a Zeus frame but then once it arrived I had doubts. A couple weeks later my Brother track frame, which I built up with my uni bursary money, got stolen from inside the hallway to my flat. So it kinda just stayed in the corner unloved as whether or not it was worth restoring. As I had to build up my daily ‘commuter’ first, I forgot about it. The frameset was bought off ebay as a 53ctc Zeus Pista Track Frame and this is what I was told about it.
Which in quick translation is it has no serial number due to it being manufactured to order, for clubs etc. It was originally bought in Tortosa - http://goo.gl/maps/8eusZ about 15 years ago and used by the owner and then kept in storage. It sounds pretty believable as from what I’ve researched about Zeus. I remember reading they stopped making frames during the wars and made weapons etc. for the Spanish army for a while. It was a bit overpriced for the state but just loved the dropouts and other subtle detail. I thought it would be nice to give back to the Spanish in their time of need with the recession and all that.
Included was the bb, headset and what I thought was an original paint but turned out to be some sort of bright enamel orange with light metallic blue underneath. The Zeus bb was marked as 55x109p (not sure on threading for both) and runs buttery smooth. Headset parts could do with some re-chroming but spins decently well. The fork is stamped Zeus 2001 and underneath the orange paint was chrome.. meme of super excitement please.. Seatpost size is 26.2 which doesn’t really help identify it. Droupouts are all marked Zeus but the rear are in a very used state.
While waiting for it to arrive I looked up the company as a whole and the parts they created. Some might say they just copied Campagnolo that’s another story. Looking up the catalogues I could find and tried to compare the scans to the photos of the frame. It was also interesting how seriously they took the whole drillium hype. Might be tempted to drill some bars and chainring Merckx stylee.

Anyways, my final aim is to finish it to a pretty good standard, for this summer coming but at least have the parts. And maybe get a paint job after a season of riding as a treat for the hard work. Then once I have saved enough get the frame chromed a bit and get full repro decals paintjob etc. But that will be decided way further. Maybe something along the lines of this but definitely not finished in white, as it will just get dirty.

That’s it for now as it’s late and should get some sleep in, but will be updating regularly with ebay buys and other things.
Apologies for the long post but really should get into reading and writing more as it would do me good for uni.
Thanks for reading.

33 is now taken.
The train from Kentish Town requires 2 changes and it takes 45 minutes just to get to London Bridge. Anyone riding down to London Bridge from the Highbury area?
True if going to sidcup but only one change if going to St. Mary Cray or Bickley. I think it would be a shorter cycle from those stations to the start than a cycle to Bridge and then from Sidcup station.
Hesa, if you decide to change your mind you could meet us at blackfriars for 6.40 an get on our train?
Here are some links to show the distance Bickley - http://goo.gl/maps/4T8qUFrom St. Mary - C http://goo.gl/maps/ezVpU

Take the hell of me, I forgot that challenging ride. Working but will manage to be off :)
I can bring plenty of inner tubes for punctures, might ask a compensation of £1.66 per tube if too many are used. Hopefully not :)

Im 2mins away from kentish, met at the station 6am to ride there? or you guys prefer the train?Would rather catch the train, as any time/energy saved will prob be best in the long run

7.30 start means a 6.15 train from Kentish Town, arriving at Sidcup at 7.25. Or a similarly lengthy ride out. Still keen even though I never like setting the alarm for a time with a 5 at the front.
What do other Kentish Towners reckon?
If thats what needs to be done then so be it, but personally would prefer a later start and finish..*
*only because I love my sleep ;-)

Evening,
I have here one bag of parts. They're a collection of things from the past few months. The bag contains some grips, black ribble stem with paint all over it, brake parts including an old suntour centre pull style and a 3 bolt chainring.
These all have to go at once as I'd rather they get used than sat in a box in my room as its starting to smell of dirty grease.
Collection is from N19 please or maybe Elephant & Castle
Thanks

Having some issues with a 1 inch stem not going further down the fork steerer. It stops moving down after about 3/4 cm. I've tried to grease, clean, re-grease and still no luck. Any one have any ideas on how I could get it to go down further?
If it comes down to it I'll file the inside of the steerer, but don't want to risk over doing it and it cracking in the future or something like that.
Any help would be much appreciated! -

Spooky! Judging from the lugs and details, yours looks in much better shape than mine. I think mine was hand painted and didn't have the bb removed, whats the finish like? Is it a really weird and slightly flouro redish orange? Its hard to tell in the photos.
Also do you happen to know what tubing it is?
This guy on ebay got some decals for zeus if your interested, based in oz too. I really want that made in spain one, theres something about the font that makes me really want it.

Would be interested in how yours get built up so keep us posted brother!!
