I had one of these rather primitive computers on my 1980 PKN10E before it was stolen (see http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67267&highlight=stolen+recovered for the full story).
Mine was silver with black buttons but I cannot be fussy now...
Would really like another one, they were probably Velotech KS2 computers (it said Made in Hong Kong on the back!) re-badged by or for Peugeot. I still have the original sliver and chequered box for mine, and the instructions (I bought it from a bike shop on ebay NOS a few years ago). Someone must have an old (or even new) one lying about in their cellar/shed? -
GOT ONE THANKS
I have been riding my 64 cm (25 1/2 inch) 1980 PKN10 for years (you may recall my story on having it stolen and then reclaiming from someone selling it on ebay) and finally am having to admit it is too big for me (I am 6 foot with 33 inside leg).
Has anyone got a half-decent frame to sell please? I am in Central London but can collect from almost anywhere. Not bothered about cosmetics etc, would like a decent frame. preferably 531/753 etc - steel only please.
Could swap my frame for one also.
Thanks
Slim

I am looking for a good used or even new old stock Mavic Module E 36 hole 700C clincher rim for my 1981 Peugeot PKN 10E or even a front wheel with such a rim. This would be the non-anodised type if possible. Not wanting anything perfect necessarily, the bike is ridden everyday but is mainly original so would be nice to keep it that way. Can collect all over London and maybe further afield or will pay postage. Thank you.

Hi Hilary
You may recall we met at the Muswell Hill swap recently, i sold you a light green Raleigh Equipe without wheels at the end of the day! I had a 1950 Claud on my stall as well.
I am after a 36 hole 700c Module E rim to replace a bent one one my 1980 Peugeot. Not too worried about shiny as i use the bike every day but do like the Module E. I am away for 10 days now but if you have one, please do email me at simonduvalsmith@hotmail.com
Thanks -

Hi,
I have some bits and pieces that you can view here;http://www.flickr.com/photos/40246069@N02/
They are obviously, campag hubs, in good condition, alright bearings and no external damage with 27" mavic module-e rims. I have taken apart the front wheel as the spokes are not in particularly good condition and polished it to give you an idea of the condition after a short polish.
The problem, that i have tried to capture is the rear block is rusted on. I havent yet given it the coca cola treatment but have tried to use a block tool on it, which did damage the lock nut (pictured) However the other side is completly intact (also pictured), so it is still definatly possible to remove. The block itself is 5 speed and not in aweful condition, obviously there is a bit of wear and tear on the teeth and bearings but it wouldnt be the end of the world if it had to remain on the hub.
I'm affraid i am going to have to break forum rule with this one as i have absolutly no idea what i should charge for this, would ideally like to sell it all as one, and as there are 2 perfectly decent period rims and one decent front hub up for sale i am looking for some fairly decent offers.
sorry for the crap photos and if i've missed something, any questions are welcome.
Fly.
Hi
I would very much like to buy the front rim - I am rebuilding a front wheel for my mate's 1980s Peugeot and his 36 hole Module E 700c is bent. Will you sell the one rim please? I am not bothered about shiny, he and I do a lot of miles and use the bikes, would buy newer but prefer steel frames and the module E is good for keeping tyres on the rims in extreme conditions (cyclo cross, old tyres, flats etc) I am away in China (work, hell not fun) for 10 days but email me at simonduvalsmith@hotmail.comThanks

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the wheels off my conversion are 700c Module-E's, and I was just wondering whether I should sell them to make some much needed money, and whether it's worth taking them off the hubs to put them on the bay. Did you ever manage to find some, The Bonk ? If so, how much did you pay for them, or how much would you expect to pay for them ?
Thanks for your time.Hi Broux
I am looking for a 36 hole Module E 700c to replace a bent rim on my mate's 1980s Peugeot. Would you sell one rim please? i am in London, collect if you are close or post?

I said this:called the police, telling them I was going to forcibly remove the bike, and that it would not be good to be seen 'rolling around in the dirt arguing' about the bike outside his work. This got the police's interest and I thought they would respond quickly.
Plus intimated that violence might occur (without actually saying I was going to start an affray). If they think there is a chance of a proper arrest for a serious/violent crime, they tend to get there quickly. They turned up within five minutes. -
I can't really see a boy with a very good job - a lot to lose - steal a bike so close to his home and then hawk it on ebay - but after seeing his piss-poor attitude in action...
No, I think he DID find it but the annoying thing is, he put the bar tape on upside down (started winding it on from the top down - so amateur) and over-tightened the headset and most annoying, he did no research to find out that this model is just one model down from the Tour team bikes... -
Thanks all for your kind words. And thanks for posting that picture - that is what it looked like before some of the bits went missing. Here is a couple of pics as it was before various bits got changed/stolen - including the lovely original 1980 Peugeot Sport computer - please let me know if you see it.

On 26th April my Peugeot PKN-10 Competition 1980 racer was stolen from outside a cafe in Hampstead, North London. A very distinctive bike with a very big frame (25 inches) and lots of rare gear on it including an original 1980 Peugeot computer.
I posted stolen notices all over the Internet and watched Gumtree and ebay like a hawk.
I found it! It was listed for sale in London. I emailed the seller and just said I wanted to see the bike with a view to bidding on it.
The next day he emailed me his mobile number and I arranged to see the bike at lunchtime, at his work - he works at one of the most famous architectural practices in the world, near my work. I printed out the pics I had taken when I had the bike, of both sides and of the frame number. I handed these to him and asked him to hold them as I turned the bike upside down and checked the frame number - yup, it was mine. I then asked him to unfold the paper and check the frame number. I told him it was a stolen bike and he said he had found it on a rubbish heap outside his home - in Hampstead. He had changed the bar tape from black to yellow, changed the saddle and pedals and someone (he said not him) had removed the mudguards, lights, computer etc.
He then said he wanted to be sure it was my bike, I said here is the crime number registered with the police, and i would be happy to call them. He then said he wanted to remove his parts form the bike. I pointed out, quite strongly that he had admitted removing my saddle and pedals and throwing them away so I was going to take the bike as it was and not call the police if he was reasonable.
He carried on whining about his parts, how he had stripped and cleaned and serviced the bike (he had overtightened the head bearings, taken off the original white cables, replaced them with crap black ones and put the new handlebar tape on upside down) and how he was going to get some tools and remove them, I started to get pissed off by this time and called the police, telling them I was going to forcibly remove the bike, and that it would not be good to be seen 'rolling around in the dirt arguing' about the bike outside his work. This got the police's interest and I thought they would respond quickly.
Sure enough, 5 minutes later they turned up. They threatened to arrest him for 'stealing by finding' after he admitted he was trying to sell it on ebay. He was very stubborn and foolish, constantly bleating about getting his parts back. He was starting to wind up the policeman and policewoman who had been called out and they turned to me and asked me if I would make a statement and then he would be arrested and taken to the local police station and probably cautioned - something that would stay on his record and probably not be very good on his CV.
I told the policeman that I would much rather take the bike as it was and not get the boy into trouble, I pointed out that his colleagues were now gathering round and looking in amazement as he talked himself into getting a criminal record. His attitude was incredible - he was gunning for trouble . After another five minutes of this arguing over some worn out pedals and a fairly crap saddle, I said again that I was taking the bike as it was, I would not get him arrested and that he was to go back into the cycle park at his work and get the bike. He did this and I just walked away, after giving my name and address to the policeman.
The morals of the story - if you find a bike, take it to the local police station and you will get to keep it if no-one claims it, or at least you can buy it later on the police online auction site - bumblebeeauctions dot co dot uk after a suitable time for the police to check if it is reported stolen/missing.
And if you lose a bike - keep looking on Gumtree, ebay, Preloved, all the auction sites, post stolen notices everywhere you can - with photos of your bike and make sure you have the frame number written down in more than one place plus stamp your postcode on the frame and register the bike with immobilise dot com
And if you do find a bike or steal one and the rightful owner comes to claim it, don't play up like a little bitch - say sorry and hand the bike back. The boy who had my bike came within a c**t hair of getting some punishment, it was mainly that I had a work colleague with me restraining me and that I had previously reported the bike to the police that I did not lose my temper.
Thanks DFP, these look like good ideas but I am too old for a Smartphone - I use a Nokia E71 which I don't think can do these apps. Anyway, I am really after the old Peugeot computer to match the bike plus it is not too complex for me to read (and the numbers are nice and big - good for old people like to read)
